That is the emergency kick down lever unit for the main landing gear. It lives on the cockpit floor (under the heel boards) and has a red paxolin/fibre knob. You kick it with your foot which releases the uplocks and voila the wheels should lock down.

Not about elevators he is not!! A well known collector (who will remain nameless) kept one set of Tempest/Tyffie elevators and trashed all the others (I had a couple of pairs at the time so could help others out). This is not folklore, sadly, several collectors did this with parts. The other thing was to find stuff and then buy it all up to keep it from others and control the market.

Looking at all these shark photos on the net has made me realise something. It really pi$$es me off when I see these dumbasses standing there with a shark that they’ve just caught. It’s not big nor clever to catch a shark, and any idiot can do it – a smart person leaves them where they are….!!

I agree Daz old fruit, I got really upset a few years back when our Officers Mess had a Blue Shark as table decoration 😡 🙁 At Bournemouth we have a lovely White Tip who spends her time hiding. We lost the Sand Tigers to the London Aquarium….my youngest daughter misses them. When I return to the UK I will take my girls to see them. I have always liked Sharks, used to dream (nightmare) that they were coming through the window at night!! In the 80s I would walk along the beach at Felixstowe and find megladon teeth with my grandad (the storms exposed the Red Crag then), we would find loads for about 2 years. Found the first for many years two months ago….anyway better go. I never usually visit this forum, but saw SP’s posting on Historic and wondered what the fuss was about.

Great thread….as a parting word, I collect John Page sculptures of sharks, they are fantastic. I will try and take some phots to the next Forum Getogether I go to.

These are the numbers of published British patent applications or patent specifications, and at the time unpublished applications (the last ones with the /). The placard was probably put there to advertise the fact that components of the aircraft were patented (or expected to be) and that copying the components in question would result in the infringer being taken to court and possibly ordered to pay damages and or licencing fees.
