My goodness! That is a quick turnover! The block thingy came from my stall at old Sarum on Saturday 13th May. I sold it for a princely £1! Then it made its way to Beaulieu the next day. When I got it, it had the back of a gun button in it, which I used on a grip. Not sure where the Whirlwind story came from….not me.

Please keep us abreast of this Rich, maybe crowd funding etc. I would be inclined to donate to worthy cause. My post, as probably was TonyT’s, was slightly tongue in cheek to show that you are doing great things with limited resources, unlike another team who often steal the limelight. Yours is grass roots and worthy as I am sure every penny you raise goes into 426’s longevity.

Shows that other Vulcan preservation groups are available to coin BBC phrase!

Lovely collection Martyn. I think your little grip is off a tank or armoured vehicle

Thanx to those that educated me to QEC! Another unnecessary acronym in the aviation world! At work, there are 1000s of them! Some aircraft types have excessive amounts. Another pet hate is the recently adopted term tech which any Peter S Potter loves to shout loudly at airshows……or similar shortened words….such as the ‘aircraft went tech’. Really? It enrolled itself in a technical college?! I assume they meant it developed a technical fault…..what was wrong with unserviceable? Or dare I say it….U/S! Anyway I digress.

Seems a reasonable business plan to swap engines, especially if one has a low MTBOH…..oh no he didn’t! Yes he did! I guess if you run the DB until it is due an overhaul, swap to Merlin ….it would work well.

Ok, I have to ask, wtf is a QEC system? It is being banded around in this thread as if it is a common term. I’ve been in aviation industry for nearly 30 years and have never heard of it! I assume is like a power egg where you take one off and bolt t’other on?

Cool, fascinating stuff. In August it will be 105 years since a military trials were held at Larkhill to select an aircraft for Service…..won by Cody. Lots in just the first one I picked up
