LAS do spray zinc chromate in aerosols – great stuff (Light Aero Spares)
I hope you are a better archaeologist than comedian Malcolm;)
fairey fasteners were used on lots of RAF aircraft – that colour and construction of panel is sim to Hurri and Spit (inkling former)
that is shown in the second pic
Here are a couple of pix – showing the square bit….restoration will be….err….interesting!
My reply was to do with the fact that the pedals act in a poker like way. Doh! i have re-read your query. The pedals wont swing because they are rivetted onto the supports. The support then bots onto a flange welded onto the outer tube of the combined adjuster/throw unit. A photo of my unit will easily show this.
Long way to come just to look at it! I could photo it?
That is one of the loveliest pix I have ever seen! Pure P47 Porn!
Mike, which one is the 78th FG one? Id NGNG still in 78th markings.
I was at Dux on Sunday and it dawned on me that we no longer have an airworthy P47 in the UK. So sad.
This is one of the jobs on my bench at the moment…the star wheel adjusts length (for foot/leg reach)….basic geometry dictates that the pedals come closer together (given the pivot bar!) however, the pedal throw is not that much. Each pedal unit goes thru a self aligning bearing on frame 9 which caters for the off axes deviation.
Each pedal unit is effectively an adjustable strut which is kept notionally parallel to the other unit. The throw is just by pilot leg movement…hope that makes sense!
My units are below par so will be fun to sort out. One is complete but has sufficient bend to make it non adjustable anymore.
It is interesting that the view is taken that to criticise something is to bring it down and want it gone. Not so!
There are small tweaks that would restore the Monday to its previous position. When Dick ran the show, the monday was a fun event – Sat/Sun were the big money makers for the event. This made the monday a more family fun/relaxed event. The stall cost is much higher now, sure there is inflation but seems more. I did not see Mr Tickles and missed the sight of Dick on his CB400 combo
That said, don’t go just to buy but to chat to friends old and new that I have made in this wonderful hobby over the past 35+ years.
dont worry Ian…Alan bought abeau grip (like the one you got from the same guy) – thats it
lovely stuff
Nice shots and good to see you Brian.
P9374 seemed to be smoking a little on the initial climb out.
Well, today I was going thru my unidentified Hurricane stuff and found the main bracket for the dimmer seen in your pix. Do you have more pix of the unit when it was on the bench please?
The part number on the screen main bracket is A102391 with B77169 – it comes from a BoB shot down Hurri.
If I can get more pix, I’ll pop one together (for P3554) and make some drawings etc.
this might help?
