These Seafires were earlier models (15’s, from memory) so I do not think the contra prop concept would be appropriate as they have ‘short’ noses.
The full phrase is “Couldn’t give a monkeys ass” which means “We really could care less”.
You mean could not care less?
Because I doubt 99.9% of us actually give a monkeys.
A monkey’s what?
Tim Manna has asked me to pass along the following credits and thanks to Pete Walker, Dave Horsfield, Phil Evinden, Alan Allen, and Bob Furgeson.
Well said SD!
Time, money, manpower
Ah yes – good old TMM!
when she gets refinished (no, there aren’t any plans as yet) it will be corrected.
Why wait that long?
Considering how wartime markings varied from the prescribed dimensions,
colours, sizings and even placement, I would think this is fine.
Apart from the fact that these ‘wartime’ roundels would have been applied in a peacetime factory
So pictures are of interest then, are they?

I understand from very good authority that the first flight was actually on the 30th April, 1946.
No it was not. It was ‘ready for collection’. ie: finished on 30 April. The first flight took place three days later, lasted five minutes and then was followed by a further flight later that day. Presumably an aileron trim ‘tweak’ was carried out between flights. Two further production test flights were made three days after the initial flights.
does anybody know what is happening to the ex alain de cadenet spitfire mk xvi which is in french markings? to my knowledge its been sitting in their hanger for near on 2 years and i don’t think ( i may be wrong, and usually am!) it hasn’t had its engine run. Anybody got any news on this?
Apart from the fact its still registered to De Cadenet Motor racing, no more news than you have posted.
Certainly in the RAF a ‘confirmed’ kill is just that, it had to be confirmed by a third party (either another pilot or maybe the Observer Coprps or even an army unit). If there was no confirmation possible it was usually listed as a ‘probable’. Not sure about a bomber kill, although there were obviously more pairs of eyes to confirm any claim.
Sandy has her equipped for all weather operation with every conceivable electronic aid that can be imagined!
Now is the time to win the lottery and take a long haul flight to Oz.
If you wish to acquire a flyable Sea Fury you do not need to do either.
Hi all–
Near the start of this thread there’s mention of Chuck Greenhill’s Fury T20; has Cruise purchased that aircraft?
That was what the post implied.
a 2 seat Sea Fury, the report said that he owned 3 aircraft, is the Sea Fury one of them?
Ex (recently restored) Chuck Greenhill machine (former RNHF), I believe.
