this isn’t some back street race car builder that thinks he can make Merlin parts all of a sudden.
The Roush organisation certainly is not that.
Yeah, saw that article. The parts are FAA approved so should be legal on US reg’d planes in the UK?
On a related note, a mate of mine has the *other* Roush Mustang… an ’05 Ford V8 🙂
There are no Merlin powered US registered warbirds flying in the UK now.
On a related note, a mate of mine has the *other* Roush Mustang… an ’05 Ford V8 🙂
Mine too – and Jack signed it too, could be the same one?
As a matter of interest is anybody aware of these parts being used in Merlins in America, other than Mr Roush’s own aircraft that is?
I believe others have used them in the US.
there are good reasons why the Mosquito would not be certifiable today, at least not without a much better hydraulic system and a MUCH bigger fin and rudder!
I presume you mean if it was a new design today?
Yes it was re-painted right.
Understand that Phil Warners P-51 project has departed these shores for a new home in the USA…. 🙁
No doubt Yak11 will provide the s/no etc I have limited info on her- shame though…TT
Don’t be too sad – its with one of the best Mustang restorers in the US. The result will be stunning.
Yes (and yes).
Taking this thread just slightly off topic, does anyone know which Hurri was zipping about over the Watford area one evening early last week? It was in a Battle of Britain scheme so it was either ‘363 or the Vacher’s R4118,but couldn’t tell whether it had the roundals under the wings. (The Vacher Hurri has them,’363 doesn’t/didn’t).
It was a BBMF Hurri displaying over Bentley Priory, which one I could not tell.
Nice photo Daz but I suspect its a later flight (note exhaust staining and absence of Mrs Grace in the rear cockpit).
Indeed – but its sad to note from the news section that the response to the MoM team’s enquiries in to sponsorship deals with top Malta based businesses was ‘deeply disappointing’
we were just getting around to wondering why the Shuttleworth Spit was facing away from us, in contrast to the others, we soon found out that you got the full fire breathing Spitfire effect!
Or maybe they just wanted to avoid taxiing on the concrete
Red Lion at Whittlesford is basically a Hotel selling pub food if you have the means then there are far better pubs just as near selling equally if not far better food. Lots of better pubs about a mile farther on.
About time someone finally pointed this out.
This has the making of a full Monty Python sketch.
Do you want the five minute argument or the full half hour?
Mark
😀 Very good – the really funny thing is I was being completely serious! 🙂
Not as visually exciting as watching a Spitfire attempt a hammerhead stall (that’s called hyperbole, folks), but it’s easier on the airframes and gives a pilot more options if the mechanical bits decide to take a vacation whilst airborne.
How ironic you should mention this. After years of watching dozens of Spitfire displays the only time I have ever seen a stall turn demonstrated by a Spitfire at an airshow was Oshkosh (USA) this summer
I am no architect but then none of you are either as far as I know………….
I am.
