Not really a mistake, just something irritating. FP always used to write the word Spitfire as ‘V S Spitfire’. We know this means Vickers Supermarine Spitfire but they did not use the term ‘H Hurricane’ or ‘G Meteor’ and how many other Spitfire manufacturers are there that it required clarrification that it was the Supermarine model beng discussed?
Rant over.

J, you do not have a thing (avatar)! You could have a nice little pic of a Mustang or Spitfire, only kidding, how about a little Walrus? Just don’t spin it :p
Reading you loud and clear!
Hi Crazymainer,
Thanks for posting – very interesting issue. Hope you do not mind me repeating what Flood said – it would be great if you could just make your style of writing a little bit more digestible for us over here in the UK. Thanks again 🙂

Hi Steve,
Actually the USA is not doing at all bad for Spitfires, compared with here but not compared with the number of Mustangs you are blessed with (this is a stealthy way of adding to the latest Spitfire thread 😉 ). You have MK959 (brand new restoration), ML417, MT719, NH799, SM832 (just been succesfully flown following import two weeks ago), TE308, NH749, PL344, PL965 (not for much longer though), MA793, MJ772, MJ730, MT818, TP280, TE392, TE476 and AR614. These are just the flyable ones I can remember and does not include the ones I forgot and those based in Canada!
Good story Bob, the reinforced leather helmets are a good compromse between an authentic look and flight safety in my opinion. I know some people who wear them all the time (they are in their warbird that is!).
Steve,
You were completely in the right. In my opinion no need to apologise whatsoever. Everyone has a right to defend themselves but in this case we were dealing with an undesirable element with the results being there for all to see. Please keep posting Steve 🙂
I hope so or else Lee and Nigel will be fighting over who flies the Mustang 😉
Lets just add them up and call it 29! 😉

PS: The TFC Bearcat had its port main tyre pumped up at the weekend! 🙂
I still say 16 Daz 🙂
IIRC it was 16 Spitfires at Duxford, beating the previous modern era formation record of 13 set at Southampton in 1996 and nearly equalled in 2000 again at Southampton (apart from one interloping Hurricane!).
There is a thread on the commercial forum that gives some insight in to the improvements coming to the forum, they sound interesting.
Looks like the webmaster has dealt with this individual in the appropriate way.
