This is disgraceful. There is a big problem with respect and discipline in this country, what a great shame to those young airmen who served at Mendlesham. Agree Peter the over fifties are going to start a big revolt soon its long overdue and coming !!
You must not call them pikeys or dids the politically incorrect idiots will have you on that one for discrimination !! but its perfectly ok for them to go around the english countryside destroying all of our heritage .

    Thanks for the info people.
Yes Keith I have visited AIX and love the 448th caravan photograph. These were the twin axled 4 x4 built by Brockhouse of West Bromwich. It is the origins of the single axle 2 x2 that I am finding elusive.

    Thanks for replying gentlemen,
Some help but need to discover more as these caravans information is going to get lost in time,if we don’t record it now.

    Thanks for replying Spitfireman,
It is the single axle 2 wheel type I wish to view. Is there still one at Old Buckenham or North Weald ? If anybody knows the company name that manufactured them would be most grateful ?

Would like to know reg/serials of gliders at Clevelands RAFGSA at Leeming 1958-1961. Fleet was Cadet 1,Tutor,Grunau(with dolly wheels)T-31,T-21,Oly2B”133″,Skylark 3F. I had my first ever flight in the T-31 aged 5. The club helped with training the new club forming at Driffield, and Pete Lane used to wave fly in the T-21. I last heard the Oly was at Pocklington ?

I flew at East Midlands Swinderby in 1967 T-21 “212” and K-7″353″. There was a K-6E and SHK there but cannot remember numbers.

As I live close to RAE Bedford , I saw Canberra T.4 WJ992 parked on the apron minus its fin in open storage from 14.12.95 until it was moved to the fire dump at Bournemouth 31.3.96. Its last official flight had been on the 01.4.93.

G-APPO was sold in Aug 1967 and was derelict at Luton till moved by road by A.J Walter Ltd of Horley as spares in March 1970. I went on a Dan-Air BAC 1-11 to Palma and saw the aircraft derelict by Mc Alpines hangar 24/5/69. The grass was concreted over not long after.

I’ve walked across the empty stand 9 in the near corner of the apron many times. Looks to be an Autair Ambassador being scrapped by the distant hangars.

I’d say correct. Note the old Autair DC-3 G-APPO parked in front of McAlpines hangar.
