Liberty Belle positioned Duxford to Coventry today ATA around 14:00 hrs.
Can anybody give us an ETD Duxford please ? I have been working for the last 4 days and would like a chance to see it before it goes.
I liked it when it was at Greenham ,but hate to say it s got too big at Fairford. Long static walks, overflowing facilities . I was put off when I saw and reported Coke tins rolling in the wind onto the active runway some years ago. I much prefer the smaller shows or walking around Duxford this coming Monday.
Stop complaining, I was on a 12 hour day shift and we have BBC News 24 on overhead TV’s no sound . Just grateful to occasionally look up from the telephone and see the BBMF Lancaster .
Darren, Thanks for the nice photos , I sent an e-mail to BBC Look East this morning asking if they could do a feature programme on the Liberty Belle with Stuart Smith presenting as he seems interested in the 8th Air Force.
Thank heavens for this forum and thank you all for the lovely photographs posted. It pleases us as we are stuck at work !
Pete truman,
I agree ,the media is cr*p,They seem scared of aviation, I think because none of them know what they are talking about. I would gladly give my services to the Beeb for a fee to try and wake them up !!
Any books by Darryl Stinton, one was “The Anatomy of the Aeroplane”. also “Mechanics of Flight” by AC Kermode.
The other squadrons based there in Oct 44 were Nos.137,181,247,438,439 and 440. Lots of reading I’am afraid.
FAO AKI1977,
Hello I am trying to locate the report for you and another member who enquired but it is buried somewhere in my loft with loads of aviation literature. I will endeavour to find but you could try the German AAIB:Bundesstelle fur

Just quote the date 3/7/77 and I am sure they will be able to help . My interest is that i was shocked to hear of the accident and had seen him display at Duxford in the T-33.

EK695 was not built ? the batch of Firebrands ended at EK694.
Sad news, I have his excellent “Albert Ball VC” and ” Wellington At War”. His work paved the way forward’s for alot of todays aviation author’s.
Accident record card ,RAF Museum Hendon.
Thanks for that, I love the old piston aircraft, great photographs.
Attended the book signing today, well worth it and well attended. Six ex members of Nos. 582/109 Squadrons were in attendance. We must never forget the contribution these gentlemen made during the last war. The book is a lasting testiment to their skills as Pathfinder Lancaster crews.
