The DH.4 was operated on a Croydon to Cricklewood service by Handley Page Travel.

G-EAWH had its Cof A issued 18.4.1921 to Handley Page at Cricklewood aerodrome where it was scrapped in 1922,
The other aircraft is Vickers Vimy Commercial G-EASI ” City of London” which flew on the Croydon to Paris/Brussels and Cologne routes, with Instone Airlines.

Very sad news,I missed the funeral as I am currently in Ireland. His book is a great testament to his devotion and expertise on the 305th Bomb Group. So glad he had a flypast as he would have liked that. Bill you will not be forgotten.

I thought “Zero Fighter” won a book award ? I have “Thunderbolt” which is good but dated , but I recommend “Everything But The Flak”.

By publishing the list it might enlighten younger aviation viewers to his writings, so apologies but a method in the madness !!

Viking G-AIVG c/n 220. First flight 20.5.47. To B.E.A as “Viceroy”. Renamed in Admiral Class as”Sir George Rooke” in 1951. Damaged beyond repair when tyre burst on take off at Le Bourget 12.8.53.

I do hope somebody can save this machine, where are all the panels’s ? Someone like Brookland’s museum would benefit this aircraft.

“Mosquito Pathfinder” by Albert and Ian Smith Crecy Books 2003,excellent account of a No 109 Squadron Mosquito navigator.

“Pathfinder Force-A History of 8 Group” by Gordon Musgrove .McDonald and Jane 1976. Hard to find but very detailed raids analysis.

Hope this helps. The No 109/582 Squadron Association was disbanded a few years ago.

Wing Commander Bryan is remembered on the war memorial at Milton Ernest near Bedford, where his father was the parish vicar during the Second World War.

On teletext, a PA-28 Piper Cherokee overshot the Popham runway late on Saturday evening and lost its wings ,both occupants ok. So I presume the state of the airfield has alot to do with the cancellation.
