N164W(090) and N162W(087) were G-AXCK and G-AXCP respectively in Dan-Air day’s. Spent many happy hours on the flightdeck with my late father. Nice to see them return to the UK. They are series 401AK ex American Airlines.
It is all very civilised and you can see alot more than modern airliners. The engines sound sweet and the aircraft has a nice solid feel about it. I am hoping to go again after flying in G-AMPY with Intra in 1976 and then 2006. Just show’s they don’t wear out.
This time the media got their act together, better coverage by the BBC and better press releases from TVOC. Well done,as this was one of the big moans, as it can only increase the support for XH558.

I am not there
Do not stand at my grave and weep:
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry:
I am not there:I did not die.

I have found further that AAF Station No 158 was in Sudbury,Derby. The depot was AAF No 382 at Sudbury,Suffolk.
Sudbury depot came under the command of RAF Burtonwood. It was a BADA (Base Air Depot Area) and was Detachment B of Base Air Depot No.1 ,the maintenance division activated in June 1944.Now Sudbury airfield is AAF station 174,I have the depot as AAF 158 also. The depot was deactivated 22.10.45 although some unit’s may have remained till May.1946.
This is the best I can find at present, hopefully someone else can provide more information.
There was a Quartermaster’s store at Station 382,Constitution Hill,Sudbury in 1943.
