Alot of Halifax’s were scrapped at High Ercall and i wonder if this pannier came from there. They were made by Airtech at Thame and i believe the company is still operating.

Some information on this aircraft. As a T.17 “W” of 360 Squadron it aquaplaned on landing at RAE Bedford on 30/11/81 and the pilot retracted the undercarriage to stop. It was seen on the dump there on 21/2/82. It seems the nose section was saved from the previous notes.

Try Michael Bowyers book “Air Raid” a very detailed book on Luftwaffe operations and losses over East anglia. Your local library should be able to get a copy for you as it is long out of print.

“Appointment in London” was filmed at RAF Upwood. If you look closely you can see the odd Avro Lincoln on dispersal.

“A Yank in the RAF” some was shot at Kimbolton as Dame Anna Neagle named a B-17G “Lady Anna” during filming.

“A Piece Of Cake” some of it was shot on the clifftops at the old airfield of Friston .

It was a Railway Air Services DC-3 G-AGZA on a scheduled flight Northolt to Glasgow.Their was four crew and one passenger on board . A full story with photos was published in “Propliner”magazine for Apr-Jun 1981.
The Captain had de-iced, and whilst held before departing the drop in temperature and falling snow froze on the wings. The resultant crash landing on the houses earned the Captain the nickname “Rooftops”Johnson.
