    Yes New Forest , the strip ran from where it says Clements End Rd, North Easterly towards Roe Green Rd but stopped about 2 fields away at the hedgeline shown.

    Lettice Curtis “The Forgotten Pilots” wrote about Beechwood Park . By mid 1943 it had been transferred to 15 MU(Wroughton). It was used by Stirlings as well as Seamews. It remained in use to March 1946.The strip was 1,260 yards long SW/NE.

    The serial is XT106 “R” of the 3 Commando Brigade,Plymouth,Devon. Hope this helps.

    The C-109 was a flying fuel transporter to take fuel supplies to the units in Northern Europe. It was converted from a B-24L-1-FO. the unit was probably the 61st Squadron as it was based at the Air Depot at Eccles across the road from the 96thBG. Yes Thomas Carter was the pilot.

    N0 125 ATC Gliding School used Langley from 1947 to Sep 1955 using Falcon3 VD205,Cadet Mk 1 ,Mk2 ,T-31,T-21,Prefect and Grunau Baby.

    It was the first British military aviator to be killed,Second Lieutenant E Hotchkiss CFI of Brooklands on Sept 09th 1912 when the Bristol monoplane suffered structural failure and crashed near Oxford.

    I believe it was used as a tug at Podington in the mid sixties by Harvey Britten
    for towing gliders of the Northamptonshire Gliding Club. After i think it went to Air-Tows Ltd at Lasham.

    “Shades of Kimbolton” 379BG USAAF B-17’s around £200.
    “The Flying Flea” by Henri Mignet original hardback around £100.
    “Hawker Hunter” signed by Bill Bedford. price ?

    I am more interested in the books than monetary value.

    The Carew Anson VS562 is ex Llanbedr and the Ekco Anson G-AGPG was destroyed by vandals at Winthorpe Newark air museum.

    Today the Government announced that the base is to become a new Prison. Sad that after all the young disciplined men who died flying from Coltishall fighting for their country in World War Two,that the site is to home mostly young undisciplined men who hardly give a damn about respect.
