Thanks for posting. I was a little worried when the Hurricane broke right near the formation. Great that the commentator let you hear the Merlin’s.

There are 2 photos in Cold War Shield by Roger Lindsay one in natural metal finish on Page 198 and one in later camouflage 1954 on Page 201.
K-8, fantastic soaring machine even in weak thermals. Almost did my whole Silver C in 1993 missed duration by 30 mins . Went from Upwood to a field near Stradishall got my Silver C height over Cambridge. Flew 100km triangle 2 up in a K-7 but thats another story. Once did Lyveden to Upwood in late September never got above 1,200 feet all the way. Beautiful handling with a nice cockpit space. Always remember to check the centre piece wing fairing is secure on the preflight.
I have a similiar autograph from a book signing at Old Warden. Any ideas on value ?
Probably route direct overhead Lincoln Cathedral, Sleaford,Peterborough,Huntingdon,Royston,Harlow(dependent on Stansted ATC) to Dartford Bridg(to avoid City airport airspace)and then direct to Biggin Hill. Lucky Chris Evans flying Scampton to Biggin in the Lancaster very good on todays show from Scampton ,listen to Jeremy Vine Radio2 at 12 from RAF Biggin Hill. don’t forget the One Show on BBC 1 tonight.
Can’t help but an excellent piece by Clive Edwards in the Aeroplane Monthly article on effects of water and condensation in piston engines on trying to start a derelict piston engined aircraft, essential reading.
Thanks everybody for confirming and thanks to Consul for the nice photograph. Excellent shot of a David Brown tractor
As far as I know it is marked on the quarter and half mil aviation charts height 171 feet and 331 feet AMSL.
DCW, You deserve a medal for all the excellent news and superb photographs of Duxford. How about it Duxford please recognise DCWs huge contribution in recording warbirds at Duxford.
I actually wrote to the CAA about the mast years ago as it was not on the aeronautical charts . I was concerned about an aircraft on approach colliding with it in poor visibility. Obviously they realised it was a potential hazard.
“Fortresses of the Big Triangle” by Cliff Bishop 1986 has the aerial view of Little Staughton on page 28 very good clarity . It is stated as Crown Copyright . Cliff was selling off copies for £5 recently try East Anglia Books.
A Canberra B.2 part of a batch of 75 built at Radlett crashed into the railway embankment when the controls jammed on a pre-delivery test, WJ622 25.2.1954. http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/memorial/entry.php?id=231
The railway embankment was to the NE end of the main runway close to St Albans.
Thanks Twin Otter for answering a query.
In 1965-6 I lived in the AMQ at RAF Manby . I can remember seeing the Lancaster fuselage section being used for building work outside the main gates. I can remember peering inside it was in very good condition and used as a bad weather shelter and tool store. I presume the owner was Peter Pumfrey and always wondered how it survived.
Hello,
Oxford Blue and Cambridge Blue but need time to look up . Is this for Cadet Mk 2 XE760 ? I would be most interested in seeing photos of this. In the middle of the light blue band was a white disc with the RAF College Crest appprox 6inch diameter.
