Thanks Chris. It was a special passenger service yesterday for LHR, it’s back to the A319/A320’s now 🙂

Would be so cool to fly on a 747 for an hour 😀

    Maybe next time 🙁

    Nice shots.

    Dissapointed I missed this but work’s a …….

As a matter of interest was the 747 a passenger service or just a special visit?

I must admit I have never been keen on flying on this Aircraft and have actually not used an airline because of MD-11’s on certain routes which I would be flying.

I can only base my view on what I’ve heard about this plane but the MD11 and it’s predecessor certainly seem to have a rather bad repuation among commercial airliners.

It does surprise me that they are still in commercial use, but as I say, I have little knowledge on the actual reasoning. No chance I’d get on one though.

Before this, when was the last incident….Narita airport?

Ah I see, well that explains it then, thanks. I had quite a run to make!

It surprises me sometimes just how short a time you have to transfer flights and yet people staffing the queues seem to really not care!

I had a similar issue when going away last year to the Dominican Republic, the girl I was with wasn’t keen on flying and we had to pay £20 each, each way, to pre-book a seat, so we didn’t bother.

We turned up well early, and then for some reason the woman put is right at the very back, in a bolt upright seat that couldn’t recline, with sod all legroom, right next to the galley and toilets. I couldn’t believe we’d been given such a crap seat. (In fact, I think it’s disgusting they actually have seats there, especially on a 9 hour flight!!)

To my delight, however, we got moved during taxi to a Premium seat, which would have been over £100 extra per person!! Didn’t get the free drinks, but that was the least of my worries.

If you turn up early enough, it’s most likely that you’ll be seated together and you may get lucky and get moved up front – just ask!

Quite surprised at some of the opinions expressed here…especially the one that says that “they are probably chavs” – incredibly narrow minded IMO.

Take my dad, for example. He is terrified of flying, but he still does it, after a few pints. He would have been in amongst the crowd that wouldn’t board, for sure. Is he then a chav? He’s been to Spain before…oh he must be a chav then

There would have been plenty of nervous people, and once one starts ranting it puts ideas in everybody’s head. It only takes a few bad apples to ruin the whole box…

It sounds like a poorly communicated situation but at the end of the day, passengers see it from the point ofview that there is a problem with the plane and don’t want to get on it. With the recent high profile air incidents, I am stunned to see why some of you find that so difficult to understand.

I would place myself as a more “savvy” passenger, since I take a casual interest in commercial aviation which stems from the fact I fly so much for work. So, i’m not an expert, I would have got on the flight, but I can fully understand why so many refused.

I had a vageuly similar incident on an NWA flight last year. We were fully boarded and ready to go, and then the captain came on and said that there was a problem with a panel on the rear cargo door, and it needed to be replaced. He then went on to explain that it was nothing to worry about, etc etc. No passengers ran away…it took about an hour to fix it.

    Nice shots!

In the pic “The rear of the famous blue ‘Made In Brizzle’ t-shirt…”

Can you just casually walk to that spot? It looks as though you can just walk onto the runway should you feel so inclined!

Nice shot but I’m really not sure about this
    new livery!

Looks more like a retrojet than a new colour scheme!!

You mean to say that this isn’t a retrojet?? I assumed it was.

And once on ap.net i was rejected because there was no sun shining on the aircraft.

Did they then send you a snotty email and then give you a 3 month ban? It was someone on here who said that had happened

    get it accepted or rejected?

I think it’s a great pic, but their huge list of guidelines makes me think they are a tad picky lol.

How long is it supposed to take? I’ve been waiting 3 days now!

I like it, nice shot. My only comment on stuff they may pick up on would be that it could have perhaps been centerd a little more. Perhaps they will also pick up on the positioning of the gear?

Incidentally, I also have a pic in the queue!

Nice shots. First one is my favourite, the clouds really add to the shot.
