Ahhh cheers, sounds like just the one I meant – I always get the Typhoon and Tempest mixed up!!! So moved to Wickenby as well, glad to see its still moving forward as a project, although I had expected one to be flying by now . .
Yeah, totally agree with everyone’s comments – fantastic event and even the weather stayed nice!! Huge thanks to all at the museum for all the efforts for hosting such a superb and friendly show!! Planning for next year now . . . 🙂
Agreed mjr
Here’s another one to add to the list . . . 🙂 Freshly built after a few requests . . . Canberra PR7 WT534 https://www.facebook.com/WT534
If I know Darren, he’ll certainly keep on top of that FB page 🙂 I know he’s currently enjoying removing all the soil from inside her!!! And seeing what wonders lay amongst it all!! lol . . .
Bruce!!! You are a hero!!!! Oh finger crossed you can find it – seems these 2 bits are somewhat elusive!!! To say the least . . .
Cheers guys
Facebook page chaps . . .
You know what? I was only thinking the other day I need to do that 🙂 I’ll get that sorted later today . . . got a fair few images to share . .
Not sure if you’ve noticed, but 124 has moved on to a good friend who has the time to put the work in straight away.
Biggest thing I would say is look for something where parts are quite accessible and not too expense – can be quite off putting if not too careful when you can’t find bits or you need to sell a kidney to get hold of them!! As an example, check out the prices of ejection seats!! If you choose a military project, these can be mind blowingly expensive!!
As Mike says above, doesn’t really matter that it is, but ask yourself what you want to get out of it?? If you want the majority of ‘Joe Public’ to drool over it, military is probably the best direction . . . although your peers will appreciate your work irrespective!! Just get something that interests you and that will give you enjoyment . . . then just crack on!! 🙂
Loads of interesting and helpful people out there who will be more than willing to help out!! 🙂
🙂 🙂 🙂 Superb news buddy
I’ll be joining you guys at Cranwell with my Dominie cockpit . . Funny story, but will tell you more later 🙂 Unfortunately, will only be able to make the Sunday . . but it’ll be a blast!! 🙂

Richy’s Vampire looks superb!! Ask him nicely and I’m sure he’d send some pics!! Loads of bits fitted, but still scope to tinker with as a project!! Think it may even come on a trailer!! (Make sure you take that into consideration! Often over looked, and can add a lot of cost to project)
You just missed a JP and Sea Vixen of ‘the bay!!’
Ah cheers Howard 🙂 I can’t believe I didn’t take any photo’s!!! lol . . .
Afternoon all . . just a quickie before I head off for my well deserved lunch!! There are a few superb photo’s here of this years event, but anyone got more to add?? Or a link to some?? Can’t find too much using Mr Google either 🙁 I own the HS125/Dominie and foolishly never got round to taking any pics myself!! hence on the lookout . . . 🙂
If you fancy a helicopter – on same site as the Phantom, they have a couple of Lynx cockpits going for around £1,000 . . although be warned, the parts will probably be expensive at present! 🙂
Totally agree with David, Rich and Max – as well as all the obvious things mentioned, i’m sure lots of fellow cockpit owners get inundated with requests to participate from all over the place. Far from not being bothered, I think we all have to balance event’s and our private life’s as well as cost and distance. Speaking for myself, in the last year alone, i’ve been averaging almost one event a month!! And it’s looking like that for the next few months as well . . . Towing these things over distance’s can be slightly terrifying as well as quite rewarding (seeing peoples faces on the motorways for example lol . . ) so heading on looooong journeys is not something i’m overly keen to do on a regular basis – although there were a few of us who did start to plan a trip down south, sadly a few of us had other commitments.
Think I know what you mean and probably using the word bothered my not have been the best wording, but sure you’ll be aware, it does take quite a bit of time and planning to restore one of these things, it also takes quite a bit of time and planning taking them to places as well 🙂
Cheers all . . . .
