This sticky-backed Luftwaffe emblem was picked up blowing around Duxford during the making of the film, and has now been donated to our museum. If anyone could come up with a photo of one of the ‘He111s’ wearing this badge, the museum would be very pleased.
Geoff.
Geoff, nobody likes an arselicker.
:p 😀 I’ll remember that as I wave to you from the back seat of ‘Southern Cross’ as we do a fast run along the Duxford runway next year. I’ll probably be wearing the flight suit I bought cheap off Andy, seeing as he wont be needing it now 😀 😀
Geoff.
There’s always that possibility. I’m sure he’s reading this somewhere and biding his time.
In which case, I wish to publicly dissassociate myself from this cruel slurr on your private life Steve. You still have one friend over here.
BTW I have today recieved confirmation that following your take-over of Shepherd-Neame, production of ‘Spitfire’ ale is to be stopped within the week, and replaced by the new ‘L-39’ larger, which as requested is brewed to taste better when served warm.
Geoff.
P.S. The RNHF have reported that the Seahawk & Sea Fury have passed their air-tests & will be ready for the ferry flight in a few weeks. Please email me to confirm when you have completed your Seahawk conversion course.
The pilot Galland flew the two-seater ‘109’ with was Commandante Pedro Santa Cruz, an old friend who flew in the Spanish civil war & with the Luftwaffe on the Russian front.
Geoff.
Planted a tree in my garden, I suppose it should have been a plane tree really.
bump
It’ll save getting confused between Andrew-O & Nelson’s Column
I think I’ll be watching the ‘Battle for the Battle of Britain’ documentary tonight. I love the start where the pilots pile out of the hut, to be followed by Michael Caine in modern day dress.
Geoff.
Hopefully by this time next year we will be able to visit the London Battle of Britain Monument.
Geoff.
Dave,
We only have a few small pieces that were donated to us by someone who lived in a neaby road to the golf course at the time, nothing major, but a poignant reminder in any event.
Geoff.
Hmm, Geoff, is that a Supercub I see hiding behind the snout of the second T6 in the second batch? 😉
I have noted on the back of the photo ‘Piper J-3C-65 Cub G-BGTI’, does that help?? Shall I have a look through my albums for Cub pix then Steve???
Geoff.
P.S. I also have some photos of Dutch & Belgian T-6s over here, T-6 fiftieth anniversary etc.
I hope he’s not planning to bomb London with it.
A few more
😮 :p :p If you must know, I was holding my stomach in & he was taking an age to take the photo. A couple more minutes & I would have passed out.  🙂 😀 :p :p
Geoff 😎 😀
A recent one of myself at the museum.
