Excellent AirWar video,I enjoyed the Voodoos too. It would be nice to know the ID’s of those warbirds and what’s become of them etc. I’m guessing the P63 is the CAF’s example?
Thanks again,,excellent site. 🙂
Being a big fan of ‘Raspberry Ripple’ and stripey target-tug schemes in general my favourite Canberra scheme has to the combination of both,as applied to the pair of B.2’s once operated out of Llanbedr. I was disappointed that both were chopped up rather than offered for preservation when they came up for disposal-does anyone know why this was done??

According to Thunder & Lightnings, the Victor nose is a simulator.

I believe these would have been the ones owned by Flying A Services, all three of which (Wildcat,Hellcat and Corsair) have since been sold abroad.

Just thinking it might be an idea to avoid the weekend of January 15th for the new forum visit as the Shuttleworth collection are having an ‘all hands to the pumps’ day in readiness for the new season and a CAA inspection. I’m guessing the majority of forumites are inlikely to be allowed out to play for the whole weekend,so even the 14th might be a bit dicey. Just a thought.
Christmas has come early 🙂 Well done to all at HHA,a monumental achievement. I’m looking forward to seeing a Bucc gracing UK skies again.
Being as large amounts of money (or the lack of) are all important in the operation of a classic jet,is it too early to ask whether she’ll be flown with commercial sponsorship like the Vixen?
Thanks lovemigs,I’ve just found your email. No problems with the jpeg format, they’re clear as day. Interesting article with some enlightening tips, many thanks for taking the trouble to scan it for me. 🙂
I think the RAF’s last open-cockpit fighter to enter service was the Gloster Gauntlet, although I think they were retired earlier than the Hawker Fury so the latter would’ve been the last in service.
Good news, glad to see this one avoiding the great Phantom cull of recent years. The serial should be XV408 by the way.
Thanks guys, much appreciated. Lovemigs,if it wouldn’t be too much hassle I’d love to see that Scale Modeller article,it’s just the kind of thing I’m looking for. My address is…

Thanks for the info and pics Delta,I see what’s meant by the ‘crap’ fit of the fuselage bits! Lovely model(s) though.
Melv,I think there was a Virgin Atlantic after-market decal sheet released for the Revell and Airfix 1:144 scale kits, but none in 1:72 as far as I’m aware.
Thanks again all. 🙂
The following link should lead to what you’re after…
I read Sigh for a Merlin a few months back, and as I remember it the cause was never specifically determined. There were several contractors building screwgear assemblies for RR and it was discovered that all the failed units were assembled at one particular factory. It turned out that although the finished product was the same, they were assembling the various parts in a different order to the other contractors. It was never worked out what specific difference this made, but once this contractor started putting things together in the textbook order the failures stopped.
I’d agree with Alan Clarke,it’s a Southampton and looks to be a metal-hulled Mk.II. Serial appears to be S1230 (?).
If I’m remembering right, the Italian-marked Storch was an original German-built example and was proclaimed at the time to be the only German-built Storch flying. Seems a shame that she’s no longer flown.
