DOn’t expect much for the purchase of new fighter planes. Many countries were pushing for the purchase of the one or the other aircraft, but because of the financial problems Greece faces and its obligations to the European Union (see budget deficit below 3%).
Most probably a decision will be made after the elections of 2008 or in mid-2009.
But have in mind Greece tries to keeps a balance between countries. E.g. If HAF opts for Typhoon, then the Army will have to give the IFV to the Swedes (CV-90) and the Navy will have to give it to the French (FREMM).
It is rather a political issue…
I have seen pics with the CB90H armed with the AMOS system already. What is the need for a new boat?? I don’t think a mortar system is a good weapon for fighting high speed drug boats.
If you noticed, the AMOS on the CB90 H is at the back, while the Stridsbåt NY equivalent is in front, hence better aiming, 180 degrees turn left-right.
And it is for Special Forces (amphibious forces). For drug boats you have the twin machine-guns and the back recoilless machine gun. A mortar can blow it off…
Hope it will be with the AMOS :dev2: :dev2:
Bu the Stridsbåt NY as seen by the photos is a bit larger…

Margaret Thatcher = Well, the so-called “liberal economy” somehow destroyed British society (disproportionately distributed income) and also the “rebate” was a few days ago abandoned by Antonio Blair (I guess the British are now very happy with it…)

It’s on the Jane’s Defense website, but only subscribers can read it.
Actually, it is going to be a complement to the existing CB 90H, but this design has been made because of the AMOS (Advanced MOrtar System)

Do you mean LCAC being launched from LPDs? Because I remeber back in the 1990’s of making an “anti-Zubr” LCAC. Which means very large and kinda autonomous hovercraft, heavily equiped with machineguns (GAU-12) and AA missiles. I read that in a Greek magazine, but I found this link for the Heavy Lift LCAC
There is also the “Tuuli”

BTW, Greece is the only NATO country operating Heavy LCACs (4 Zubrs)
