Sorry to sound off and nothing personal intended, Brian

Not at all, no issues from me- its a debate/discussion forum after all. If we’d have been face to face in a pub for example, and I used the word and you had objected, I’d have have said “Oh sorry – is it your round?” job done,- no keyboard fury for me – its too easy these days !

I do get described at work by my European colleagues as “very English” – not sure if that is a compliment, but I chose to take it as one….

I’m sorry but the shortening of British or Briton to Brit is insulting and derogatory to me.

    Regards Brian

Duly ammended – no insult or offence intended on my part, apologies if any caused.

Its no fun not knowing what to say at times, certain words and phrases are unacceptable and rightly so – what our HRH said I think in this day and age is not on, and a lot of other people would have been arrested by now. If they can pull blokes from a football crowd for it, why not an HRH on video?

when I was about 8 (early 70’s) I used the “N” name to a lad of west Indian parentage and my mum went mad. I got (which is also not allowed today) a good hiding and I never used the word again. This was at the time that “Love thy neighbour” was on TV…. ’nuff said.

It can go to far, I manage a team of 18 people at work, 2 of us are English, the rest from all around Europe. I got pulled up for calling them “B*****y Foreigners ” – which is what they call me as well.

    HE-111

I’m at work at the moment so will check later, from memory there was an HE-111 focus as well as V-1 feature. Can’t recall the rest, only had a quick scan last night.

Being a grumpy, a letter enclosed with a “sorry” would have been nice!!

The “news” is painfully out of date in places but the rest of it is well worth it from what I can see.

    Singapore Burning by Colin Smith.

    Excellent read this one !

I have the Osprey book about the RA-5 Vigilante units in Vietnam on the go as well. Worth it alone for the image and story of the SA-2 passing 104 feet from an aircraft and not detonating.

It falls into the “its so bad its brilliant” slot. Lots of vintage aircraft in it. Last week two F4U Corsairs were taking on some Hughes 500’s, I’ve seen B-25, P-51 (with a laser weapon/rocket launcher in the radiator…) always liked it more than Blue Thunder as well.

used to have the music as a ring tone…. you can hear it now…

    To Daz – “Himmel”…..;)

for me, “Suez – the inside story of the first oil war” – heavy going but reassuring to see that we indeed are not learning from our history so we are repeating it.

Interesting gems on Eden and his mindset – lots of medication (prescribed – no hint of anything else) The French and Brits as allies in name only.

    vantage point

Dennis Quaid, William Hurt – very slick, very fast very original BUT two or three major cliche Hollywood moments let it down – worth a look on a cold Sunday night though

Some of these Crowood books are (IMO) very very good and this is certainly one of the better ones. Would have been interesting to see what the Finns would have made of the Roc’s had they actually got there !
