That is a Boeing B-52 Stratofortress heavy bomber, 50 or 60 or so are still in use with the USAF.

The soon to be ex Mrs BSG-75….

we have some bags of thekids stuff going back and forth, dancing clothes etc. I get a text today timed at 2:30 am saying she just left the bag, a big carrier bag on my step with our daughters clothes in, all nice and damp now……also asking for a £5 pair of ASDA jeans back that she got our son (despite me sending a pair back that I bought, and are not worn) oh, and she left kids school bags there as well so they can do their homework today before a week-end away with her, so she picks them up on last day of school , doesn’t check the homework, sends it to me to do…. so she can have a free week-end away with no school stuff…

    rant over….

    Not convinced….

Nor me, it just wouldn’t sit with current war movie mind set, films like “Green Zone” and “Hurt Locker” are gritty and ask questions, buzzing the tower just doesn’t seem to fit into that.

quote today on the Empire website “attack of the drones”…. ummmm

I can’t see it myself either. “documentary” style story telling like the original Battle Of Britain film and “Tora Tora Tora” tended not to “do well” at the box office, so a fictional story (Like Pearl Harbour ) is written around the events.

The technology exists to make such a film, but that costs….. $80 million seems conservative and I just can’t see the market for the film offering the box office returns.

It would need a U.S lead/interest to secure the money, and I just don’t see it as a realistic idea.

Besides, the original is the best and I can still find time for “Tora Tora Tora” on a wet Sunday afternoon.

Last SOC from the RAF was in October 1951, a Mk II FR-209 having served post war with the A&AEE among other places. B-25’s served as instructional airframes and “hacks” after most were SOC in 1946-1947.

The current Mrs BSG-75….. has kids over hers for a “sleep over” on saturday, lets them stay up Sunday past 10:30, sends kids to after school club on monday evening, then my lad has scouts. so muggins here gets a zombie to stay for a couple of days who has seemingly had something less than 20 hrs kip in 3 nights, plus a busy schedule of clubs etc.

sent home from school all sick and floppy, falls asleep as soon as he is home….

she has to let them do everything they ask as her dad never let her do anything….. but doesn’t see that nippers need “down time” and sleep and rest….
