Here’s my favourite comment from another thread.
“I am amazed that people seem so keen to downplay her flight.
If it brings consciousness of GA to a wider public that’s a good thing. If it alerts more women to the fact that flying isn’t a male preserve that’s an even better thing.
Carping about staying in hotels and having a support team smacks to me of sour grapes, not useful comment.”
Really well said. Flying this kind of distance in an old open cockpit biplane is a huge undertaking in logistics and resources.
It’s challenging enough just trying to cross from Canada to the U.S. in my Tiger Moth. Getting customs to meet you at a field with a suitable grass strip is no easy task.
Vintage aviation can use every positive news story that comes our way! I support this wholeheartedly.

Hey Brian.
That is a really slick and simple set up. (the best things always are 🙂
How do you draw your material through that and will it take heat treated alloy as well?
Thanks in advance.
Andy Scott
I wholeheartedly agree!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful work.
Andy
Rod Lewis probably needs another Bearcat.
Andy
Agreed!
Some impressive work.
Really fascinating project. Kudos sir.
Andy
Always terrible to hear of such.
Thoughts and condolences to the families.

May the people who upkeep this forum, chastise the lot of you.
Andy
Really fascinating Ian. Thanks for the update.
May I ask if you have any others involved, or is this project primarily yours?
Just being curious, that’s all.
Thanks In advance.

I seem to recall mention of a Seafire 46 being resurrected in the U.K.
That’s only 1 shy of a 47, so a formation of the 46 and a Mark one should fit the bill :eagerness:

As a fully paid-up and certified member of the Roundel Police, did they just paint an RAF Roundel over the star part of the stars and bars, leaving the bars visible – like they did in the British Pacific Fleet – or has the paint weathered back to reveal the bars. If that’s the case then it’s odd that so much of the roundel remains.
Would you have the address handy, as to where one sends his fees, to be a paid up member of the roundel police?
Please just don’t say your house. 😀

If you let the members of the forum know where this was found, that may help towards identifying what it came from.
There are some awfully clever folks who frequent this place.

I also want to comment that I really enjoy your posts.
You seem to me to be the sort of person (to quote a friend of mine), who “has a rather elliptical orbit” 😀
I’ve no doubt that hoisting a beer with you would be a worthy venture!
I have done a tiny bit of casting white metal, making parts for models.
It is challenging and endlessly fascinating.

The pilot that flew all of the drops in that dambuster re-enactment was named Artie.
They succeeded with the mission. He has since passed away.

Any updates on EN224?
The Mk XII is together with a twenties series Spit the most anticipated version to fly (if you ask me).

I’d have to say the prospect of a Seafire 46 is rather interesting.
Andy
You’re most welcome.
There is another Lancaster restoration trying to get a foothold here in Canada.
Combat veteran KB882.
Here is a link to a kickstarter campaign to raise funds for her.

I believe the plan is to work to an airworthy standard with this one as well.
