No, you guys are missing the point.
The only one you have to be able to fool is yourself!

In Canada, it is exactly one.
So you’ll have to excuse me for getting a bit testy when people moan about “another two seater” or some other nonsense.
Also, you are totally correct about this forum. The last time a Spitfire question was posted, I, a lowly Canadian was the first to show up with the goods! 😀
At this rate, in another year, the answer to the posed Spitfire question will be…. ….”what’s a Spitfire?”

It’s the new improved forum software.
Isn’t it obvious how amazing a job they have done??
    Just look around you. 🙂

Always glad to hear that no one was seriously hurt.
My heart goes out to all that spent counless hours of labour and skilled craftsmanship, only to have their efforst smashed to bits.
Hopefully they have the wherewithall to dust off and start over.

Have a look at this one Christer. Dated 2011.
Four blade prop, canons and bulges, I think this may be a winner.
If it is, then that really shows the sad state this forum is in. A Canadian being first to Identify a particular Spitfire 😀

    Nice video.
The chap behind the camera lives on the premises, so that’s why he is allowed to be there.
There is quite a lot more remaining of this airframe than I imagined. I thought it was just a hulk.
They have a great starting point for what will turn out to be a fantastic display.
Best of luck to them sourcing Jumo engines. That will be very striking!

It looks to me to be a mark V with a four blade prop.
Lookoing through some old pics on Google, AB910 sported such a set up.
    That’s my guess.

    Hi Dave.
Welcome to the forum, which sadly, is barely a shadow of its former self.
There were some “improvements” made by those who operate this forum and 90 +% of the membership left in disgust.
I used to check in daily, now it’s more like monthly or less. I miss the regular, excellent posters. They’re not coming back.

On the subject of Tighar, I, along with the majority who posted here, are convinced that Gillespie is a snake oil salesman.
The “artifact” has been shown to match its rivet pattern to something as mundane as a C-47 wing skin (or the like, I honestly stopped caring). Gillespie has been taking money to continue spouting his foundless theories. Tighar has never recovered a single aircraft. That’s what the “R” is supposed to stand for. I am of the opinion that he will continue under the premise that there is a sucker born every minute.
Earhart has proven to be a huge cash cow and he has yet to finish milking it!

    Stay safe

    And there you have it!
Somebody on this forum moaning about “another two seater”
That’s part of why I said I was sorry to see it leave North America.
Canada (a land mass that is larger than all of Europe) has precisely ONE Spitfire which is flown with any regularity.
The number of people who would complain, about a two seater being based here would be zero!

    Poor you!

As soon as the video started I thought “I bet that’s TE308”
First time I saw it was Oshkosh 1984. Last time was Geneseo 2007. less than a year before Bill had that unfortunate mishap (through no fault of his own ).
I was so sorry to hear that Bill was selling it, regardless of how good the new home is.

I think the title of this thread should be changed to something like “Tighar Earheart artifact solved”
That looks to be a spot on match.
Re Glickmans’ analysis skills, I’m pretty sure he is the same person who authenticated the recently debunked “Bigfoot” film.
Don’t forget to preface his credibility with that!

Gillespies’ source of income will remain safe as there is a sucker born every minute!
