How many Mig-29K/KUB are suposed to be purchased? Thanks.
AMCA looks like a baby PAK-FA! Is it known if Sukhoi or other russian aircraft design bureaus are involved in designing the AMCA ?
In my honest opinion , going in the realm of speculation, but if the russians get into some sort of deal with the indians regarding AMCA , a sort of reversed FGFA joint venture , it would be a great idea.
A russianized AMCA , with russian engines ( i’m sure they can easily come up with upgraded 10tf class RD-33 derivatives, such projects were /are in the work for years , isn’t it ?) and avionics, and maby custom russian design features would be a wonderful suplement for PAK-FA, and i would think at a fraction of the cost of developing a LMFS from scratch.
Anyway just a random thought.
(Lovely) Hi rez pic of the Mig-29UPG here …
http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?p=473646
Looks like it has some sort of ECM( or other electronic equipment) fairing on the bottom right fin …
…and what appers to be some fairings under the wing tips, very interesting .
Regarding this S-duct thing …i would dare say re: the afirmation that T-50 is the only 5th gen fighter which doesn’t have one, does F-35 really has an “S- duct”? It seems to me that it’s “S-duct” is more like dictated by it’s configuration ie single engine combat aircraft with side intakes, rather than being a specifically chosen design solution.
Offcourse, aicraft like F-22 and possibly J-20 and aparently S-37 and Mig 1.44 does have these famous “S-ducts” , specifically chosen for the purpose of hiding(?) the compressor face in (usually) multiengine aircraft, and chosen OVER the more straightfoward air intake design which would have the engine compressor exposed/ partially exposed. At least that how i see an S-duct.
IMO T-50 and F-35 are in a different class anyway , so i don’t know why peoples keep comparing them.. Think F-15/F-16 and F-22/F-35. The russian equivalents for the fourth gen are Su-27/Mig-29. Again IMO, F-35 is for T-50 what F-16 is for Su-27.
Some people here say that the Sukhoi folks would indeed use some form of screening for the engine compressors, so we have to wait and see what they came up with.
Anyway just my 2 pence.
I was refering to this bit
Roughly translated as
At the general Russian stand formed Rostechnologii, within the corporate exposure of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) will be demonstrated the project developed jointly with India prospective multifunctional fifth generation fighter, combat aircraft Su30MKI, MiG-35 MiG-29K.
I would assume that IF they’re talking about PMI/PMF/FGFA ( as in the indian version of the T-50), MABY they’re going to show a model of it. Let’s hope someone is gonna keep an eye on the Rostechnologii stand .:p
PMI (PMF/FGFA?) to be unveiled at Aero India?

This news article here regarding PAK-FA…

…should it be understood that the second prototype is at the ground tests stage at this moment? ( i tried some translators , but lest say they can be better …)
Thanks .:)
I don’t think any pictures have been released (of the Mig-29UPG), i looked in all the places i could think yesterday and couldn’t find anything.
Hi Lincoln 7,
Thank you for your help. Well i aleardy ordered the issue in question a few days ago from the local bookshop ( where i usually make my book orders ) so i guess it’s too late to cancel. Food for thought for next time though.
Personally, i would think electronic versions of AI or other reputable aviation magazines, would be a great idea. Few clicks, get your card details in, then click ok ; next, you happily read it on your PC in minutes! Everything is on the computer these days , isn’t it ?:p

Second half of February 😉
Groomi ?
Sweet :p
I’m wondering when that picture was taken.
I dont think that’s the Feb 2011 issue, it’s October 2010. 😉
The management of the F-35 project might leave a lot to be desired but you can’t say it’s any worse other fighter projects can you? what yardstick, standard for comparison are you using? Rafale first flew in 1986, but! didn’t enter service until 2004 or so – how’s that for “project management”…
Wasn’t Rafale A a TD , just like say EAP , Mig 1.44 or X-35? I think Rafale C first flew in 1991 if i’m correct.
F-35B BF-05 first flight:
