Well, if you can find me the specs of the production model, we can discuss it.
As for the second part there, the point of the matter is that the APG-79’s range is >3 times that of the APG-73, which is in turn superior to the APG-65’s. What you can infer is that whatever figure mentioned for the APG-65 is < 1/3 of the APG-79s performance. In terms of overall performance, the APG-79s is suppposed to be >10x as capable as the APG-73.

So if that APG-65 figure for 1m2 target is 60nm( imo thats almost certainly wrong, i’ve read in other places that the APG-65 max range is 150km , and 180 km for 73), since the APG-79 has 3 times longer range than the APG-73 , does that meen the max detection range for a 1m2 target is at least 180nm???

Sory , but i dont believe that even if someone puts a gun to my head 😉

The highest figure i could find for APG-79 vs 1m2 target come from f35.net , and its 128km…which meens that the full spec Zhuk-AE with a planned 200km range vs 3m2 would be in fact at least equal , even better! 😮

Offcourse APG-79 is operational now , no argue there …

    That’s a mis-translation:

I think those 6 flights were for flight safety certification and now the real programme will commence shortly @ LII, Gromov. Good news, now new pics please Mr.PoGo- there’s supposed to be an official MoD/RuAF review upon arrival @ Zhukovskii.

I totally pwned the ‘R-blocker’ enigma btw, if anyone’s interested.

    I’m interested! :p

BTW any more news on Spiridon’s new R-blocker vid you mentioned a while ago Otaku ?

Do you have some datas that show the APG-79 is /will be indeed better than Zhuk-A?

Do you have some datas that show the SH is indeed haveing a lower RCS than the Mig-29K ?

    🙂

RVV-SD , an upgraded R-77, max range 110km, thoroughly upgraded electronics.

RVV-MD , an upgraded R-73 , more exactly an upgraded K-74M, max range 40km, and up -to -date seeker and electronics…

Both these misiles were shown at MAKS-2009.

ATM from what i could read they have( or will have) six (or seven?) prototypes and statics to take part in tests …plus several other testbeds , Su-27M “710”, Su-47, Su-30MK “503”, Tu-134Sh etc …

They should do ok , providing something unexpected occurs…( remember the Su-35 “904” crash …i know you will laugh at me , but this is my opinion ,there is a chance the crash wasnt Sukhoi’s pilot or workers fault. IMO they have to watch their backs , especially now.)

Kazakhstan aircrafts do not use roundels, but red star with sun in the middle and an eagle across. I doubt that Fitters are still flying there.

thanks, but I wanted to hear it from the other guy…;)

Well dunno why you wanna hear it from me too , Googeler answered your question very well , from what i can see yes they can carry the R-60 if need be …

Mot trainers I have seen were designated Su-22UM-3K, even if they don’t have the dedicated R-60 pylon.

    No trainer Su-17 or 22 , have that R-60 pylon…
    Again , Su-22UM , export trainer for Su-22M, R-29 engine
    Su-22UM-3 , export trainer for Su-22M-3 , R-29 engine
    Su-22UM-3K , export trainer for Su-22M-4, with AL-21F engine!

Some old disputes may bloom and require going “down town” that could call for Fitters or something better.
    Azerbaijan – Armenia
    Iran – Iraq, Saudi
    Peru – Ecuador
    Syria – Israel
    Vietnam – China

If you are refering to the China-Vietnam war of 1979 , no , Vietnam didnt had any kind of Fitters then …

In regular (potentially effective) ops Syria (Su-22M2), Yemen (Su-22M2), Libya (Su-22M3), NKorea (could be M2, but don’t know), Vietnam (Su-22M3+4). Each still flies three or four dozen of the Fitters, only Vietnam still seems to fly around 100.

Then there is Angola with a handful of Su-22M4 remaining, and I think Bulgaria has two as trainers. Azerbaijan is a questionmark, they might still fly two or so trainers.

Sorry i have to step in and say that theres no such thing as a Su-22M2, in all probabaility this is how some western writers call the Su-22 sans suffixe ( call is Su-22A if you like …), which is the export version of the Su-17M2 with an R-29 engine …

Su-22M3 is also somewhat incorrect , the real 22M3 is basically and export version of the Su-17M3, distinguishable by the dedicated R-60 pylon in the middle of the fixed wing section, but with R-29 engine, Hungary clearly had them, not sure about other countries tho …Lybia and the likes have the Su-22M , which is a downgraded export version of the Su-17M3 , lacking the dedicted R-60 pylons and haveing an R-29 engine …

    Trainers are Su-22U and S-22UM respectively …

    Hope this help , thanks.

Oh , and theres no such thing as a Su-20M , either …
