OH MY ******* GOD!!! FINALLY! Beautiful and so mean, so “russian” ! Congrats to SUKHOI and to the test pilot , great job!!!:eek::eek:
WEEEEE!:p
Frankly, I would be surprised if Russia has the capability of designing something as stealthy as a Raptor even decades behind. I expect the PAKFA to be much inferior in stealth shapewise, as well as IR (considering how the F-22 cools its exhaust)…
…somewhere between and EF and a Raptor but less than the later.
Well me i’m no aviation engineer or whatever , but i would expect the Su-27/F-15A story being repeated again…The Su will have a better airframe-more aerodinamically efficient, more manoeuvrable, more agile etc, while the electronics will be almost as good …
Most importantly , it will be much cheaper, maby half the price of an F-22, offering perhaps 90% of its capability …so it would be a better bang for the buck! ( so what you would have , Raptors or twice as many T-50s 90% as good as the F-22?:p)
Just my humble opinion…
India was first export customer (1984-86, I think) and I don’t think they have received any birds in mid 90s.
They might have ordered them in 1984, but they received their first CKD Mig-29 9.12B in late 1986, and after putting them together( well the russian technicians did) they started flying next year …
( as a paranthesis the 9.12B started on the production line from 1986 while 9.12A from 1988…)
According to latest information it will be Сергей Богдан, the same test-pilot who took up the new Su-35.
Thanks for the info. Well good luck to Mr. Serghei Bogdan then, here’s for a safe and uneventful flight!
Btw with all the excitement and expectations , wouldnt be awful to see a post tommorow morning saying ” Nope , not today , TOMMOROW!” 😀
Anyway lets hope tommorow is the big day.
УДАЧИ ВСЕМ ВАМ to the test pilot and everyone at Sukhoi ( SUHOI) too.
Btw do we know who is going to be the pilot that will take the bird up?
Terribly interesting photos and story, Jetman-2! What chaff&flare dispensers are those , are they israely MPMS-36(V) units?
Looking forward to updates in this topic !
This is the well known egyptian Mig-21MF with AIM-9Ps and an ECM pod almost certainly italian made ( Elettronica ELT-555?)
Does anyone know more about this upgrade ? When did it really took place ? What avionics upgrades did it involved ? New HUD, radar , RWR ? I’ve seen enough egyptian Mig-21 pics taken relatevly recently , and there is not a single recognizable upgrade element…not on the outside at least …
Any infos would be greatly apreciated, thanks.
Its indeed R-77 ,H-31 (most likely the ARM H-31P) and H-58 , also ARM…which makes you think , this bird fits perfectly as a replacement for the Mig-25BM…which probably its the main role envisaged in the eventuality that RuAF presses on with Mig-31 in air-to-ground aswell…
Me i havent seen anything else air-to-ground under a Mig-31 so far , tho descriptions of the upgraded models mention the posibility to carry a whole range of guided missiles and bombs…
Yes that the ( only) one floating around …hmm, these trials must have been really SECRETNO :p
Gotta keep waiting and looking i guess…
Thank you for your reply Matej. 🙂
Official version is to test the new technologies to improve the efficiency of the modern aircrafts. It count T-10-26 or Su-27LL-UV (KS) with a round shaped TVC nozzle, T-10-16 or Su-27UB blue 08 or Su-27LL-UV (PS) with the flat TVC nozzle and Su-27LL-OS for the tests of the aft-firing R-73.
Sorry for being a bit offtopic , but Matej would you have more information on the Su-27LL-OS that was suposed to test rear firing R-73s? Any more infos , maby pics from the trials other that the well known blurry black and white pic floating around the net ?( i’ve asked about the rearward firing R-73 in another topic…

Thank you.:)
Well since this is a Typhoon thread and i wouldnt want to open another topic for such a simple question , may i ask , the gun on the Typhoon located at the root of the right wing , right? Is it covered whit some sort of ..well …cover like WW2 Spitfires had for instance that i suposed to break when the cannon is fired ?
This thread is driving me crazy! each time i see a new post i quickly log on to see if the photo of the PAK-FA has been released!
Same here , i gotta be out of my mind, think i registered on this forum just for it !

My apologies to Shadowpuppet , HAWX and Deino…indeed this PAK-FA fever is highly contagious!!!
I thought you guys were discussing back and forth about ALL the sim pics shown here belonging to the T-50… my internet was sluggish at the moment but it was quite exciting ( imagine that, first pics belonging to that bloody PAK-FA!) and was trying to post something and didnt really read everything …sorry.
