Would be nice to have knowledgeable folks give their opinion on that. From what i gather by 2020 70% of VVS should be equipped with new or modernized hardware, so that still leave 30% of aircraft being legacy types (MiG-29S/9.13, Su-27S, possibly Su-24M/MR, MiG-31 etc- likely serving with second line/training units imo). These will be completely replaced shortly after 2020 during the next GPV programme.

    D. Rogozin’s visit at IAPO and flight in a Su-30SM:

Bort 01 visible in the background (not sure if the “old” 01 or a “new” one). The unit at Domna to receive Su-30SM’s soon (replacing MiG-29).

Great news! And congrats for the effort, they’ve done it in a sunday…Hopefully some pics of the bird will be released soon.
(btw according to a post from paralay.com, seems it was Roman Kondratev who flew T-50-5)

Since this is the most recent SyAAF topic i could find, here is some pictures of a syrian MiG-23MLD and MiG-29SM (imo) with an A-G guided munition pylon (APU-58?), found at acig.org:

Don’t think so, i’ve stared at that pic closely, must be a different comm antenna on the spine. It appears there’s no wingtip LWR, nor the nose MAWS apertures are visible, and nothing like that has been seen in pictures or footage of the K/KUB under construction.

Thanks for the very interesting info and research as always Jo. Speaking of L-150 and MiG-29SMT, so the aircraft have it then , did they had the L-150 when they were sent to Algeria, or were they having the older SPO-15 back then, and they’ve been retrofitted with L-150 once they have been bought for VVS?

Anyway, made a screenshot of the first MiG-29KUB for the Russian Navy from MiGs press release pdf. It’s an important event why they don’t publicize it more is beyond me…:(

So what do these figures mean? UAC to deliver 27 aircraft this year, 35 in 2014, and 51 in 2015. Are they referring to fighters only, in which case, are they refering to ALL deliveries (MiG-29K/SMT, Su-30SM/M2, Su-35, Su-27SM3) or just Sukhois, or what?

The 27 figure for this year seems fairly low, shouldn’t there be something like “some” Su-30M2/Su-27SM3, 12 Su-35S, 12 Su-30SM, 14 Su-34 and 4 MiG-29K to be delivered?

    http://government.ru/news/7724

    On another note, 3 more Yak-130 delivered (borts 58, 59, 60 apparently)

If you think the 3000 dead in 9/11 is a justification for killing hundreds of thousands of peoples from all corners of the globe (crucially, most of them innocent civilians, just like the 9/11 victims) you are INSANE pal. Get your head checked 😡

The picture on the second page is supposed to represent the first MiG-29KUB for the Russian Navy, but it appears to be PS-ed for some reason. Come on MiG, you can do better than that, take some good pictures of the thing and show them like KnAAZ does!

PS: I might be mistaken about PS, looks better when you zoom in…

Said to be taken during a flight of D. Rogozin in a Su-30SM at Irkutsk. If true it indeed appears the SM cockpit is similar to the MKM one.

Is that T-50-5? When was the picture taken? What is that in the background behind the T-50, resting on some supports? Thanks.:)
    (Btw the bays are open)

I will only say this, imo all this “China puts pressure/complaints/cries blablah ” is pure and absolute rubbish. Propaganda coming from various anti-chinese, US sponsored and incited corners. I mean, think with your brain (if you have one) for a bit. On one hand, you have CHINA, one of world’s 3 superpowers, with a superb military, with thousands of aircraft, quality and capabilities increasing every day. On the other hand you have Phillippines and…12 poor LIFTs. Do you think the chinese really CARE about those combat capable trainers? They wouldn’t care even if they’d buy 120 of them, not 12…
