So what would you suggest, hiding this career choice topic because of …what? Some peoples who don’t like it? The “young and impressionable” must be presented with a honest image of what choices are ahead, their pros and cons, in such a manner that in the end, they can make a choice all by themselves.
This is not the victorian era ( speaking of the UK) , and even so, there’s far too much prejudice and narrowmindness prevalent anyway. And this is one of the most liberal countries in the world ( imo at least) , imagine how bad is in other places.
Think they must be chaff&flare dispensers.

As long as she’s happy and free with her choice , i don’t see what can possibly be the problem here , other that some peoples narrowmindness. Besides , why i’m not in her place, career wise? I’m male btw, and thinking only if i had the looks and the “gear” to somehow get in this business. Hell , i could have bought myself a real plane by now ! :p

As for your first point, that’s your opinion, based on your far away knowledge of the situation or the people involved. You sure you know what you’re talking about?
One thing is sure. You SURELY don’t know what you’re talking about either, possibly even less so than him (or others) 🙂 As for the media outlets , you do not have to believe RT or whatever “oposite view” channel , but if you have about half a brain and put it to work a bit and A and B together, it is obvious that the things in situations like Syria (not to mention others) are rather not like they are presented to be, by a longshot.
Anyway , obviously , we will be wasting time trying to change the other one’s opinion. But history will show who was right , don’t you worry about that. ( although unfortunately the say ” victors write history” is even more true in this age of information -and disinformation)
Oh good grief you were serious! Staged? It shows you how far a die-hard conspiracy minded brain will take things to. Yes there are conspiracy loons out there that still don’t believe that two Libyan Pilots defected with their Mirage F.1s to Malta.
The same ‘scenario’. Really? It isn’t unprecedented for aircrew to make a point of protest and fly their aircraft out. It happened in the late 1990s with Albanian aircrew refusing orders and flying their aircraft to Italy.
Why is it so hard to comprehend that aviators would take such action as a form of protest? In the case of the Syrian Pilot he is a high ranker and his actions have made him a hero in the eyes of those protesting against the Syrian Government. Such high profile defections make the news and grab the worlds attention. If he was just to abandon his post and defect internally to the FSA then it wouldn’t have the same impact.
It also forces the Governments to acknowledge the fact that the defection has taken place and ask for their property back. That also plays out on the world stage as Malta refused all attempts by the then Libyan Government to return their property much to their annoyance. Will the Jordanians impound the MiG or seek UN assistance over the matter?
So Nic, is your brain still screaming? Are you still suggesting/hinting that the MiG-21 isn’t Syrian?
One’s hero is another one’s traitor. Belenko ? American hero, russian traitor. Rodfa ? Israeli hero, iraqi traitor. And so on. Personally , after thinking of this defection thing, i think all that do it are cowards. There’s one thing to opose whatever you think it worth opposing in your country (but be ready to stand up for it, and be ready to face the consequences), another thing is to BETRAY your country and run to conveniently save your backside to a foreign country , not only with millions worth of hardware ( which YOUR people paid for for YOU to fly), but also with information that can be used to kill YOUR OWN countrymen. What’s “heroic” with that?
NATO can say whatver they damn please. I wish France did pull out of that criminal organisation.
So what you think Nicolas, is Hollande going to be another vassal for the americans ?
The idea that the american government and other vociferous “allied” GOVERNMENTS really care about the syrians ( or afghans or lybians or iraqis etc.), they really love them and they really want the best for them and they only want to protect them from the evil murdering evil child murdering (did i said evil ?) Assad is so ludicrous that it doesn’t even worth the ink it’s written with.
Do you really think disturbed individuals like McCain or Clinton really CARE about the syrian peoples? Or unfortunate lackeys (unfortunately for their own peoples) like mr. Cameron ? Come on give me a break.
Nope, that’s an EGYPTIAN MiG-21 , but press won’t know the difference.
That being said i’m dying for some pics of that actual syrian MiG-21 that defected. 😮
Well, i’ll bet the bort was initially PS-ed. Hopefully we’ll find out this detail not too far away.
