Good points VeeOne, and yes near misses do happen on a regular basis.. and will continue to do so i dare say. But when was the last time a mid-air resulted in a crash of an airliner over the UK? That one hasn’t (i cannot remember the last one) could be down to luck – yes possibly, skill – yes possibly, technology – again quite possibly… or maybe a combination of all three.
I’m not saying our safety record is perfect, far from it.. but having watched the huge amount of daily movements at and around Heathrow, then i begin to think those low crash statistics must mean they are doing something right.!
