Recently brought myself a new camera and was wondering what you use
RIP
dont know if it makes a difference but went to Waddington last weekend and made Legends looks fantastic. Surprised no comment about the Yak tail wheel collapse/extension that blocked the runway
looks like you were on the fuel bank
£2.50 looks like a bargain. thanks for posting
Was there Sunday and Monday. Any one on this forum is already interested in aircraft so may/would be disappointed with the content of the show but the concerning thing that i heard was the amount of non enthusiasts saying that they had only come to see the Vulcan, how poor the toilets were, how bored they were………………………
I sat 3/4 of way along crowd line where jet display aircraft in the past have flown or carried out there landing run, hardly anything came down this end of the field. Watching helicopters half a mile away felt as if i was outside of the airfield. I should have got up and moved but didnt so that is my own fault.
What isnt is the lack of noise, as someone next to me put it, they had come to Waddington (1 of only 2 shows a year they went to) to hear and see fast jets. Unfortunately the cut backs by this government is now showing it self to ourselves, the RAF is over streched on deployment and there is nothing else left to show. At the begining of the year it was stated that there would only be the Typhoon fast jet display and that is what we got. Personnely i would rather the RAF (and all armed forces) be at home and attending airshows, not involved in conflict but due to world commitments the armed forces are away so, as has been mentioned the forces needs are greater than ours.
Someone also said to me that they sat in the Hurricane grandstand and as nearly crowd centre thought it was a really good show…………..
That was quick!!!! Only just got back home n left at 14:45 after French E3 and R1
3rd pic, where the vapour coming from between the engines?
Vulcan…………………………………well they did have an F15 a few years ago
Southern Cross, i enjoyed your slot as always do, thank you.
I only live in Heath Hayes, which is normally about 25 min from Cosford, knowing what it is like we left the house at 07.30 and got in and parked up by 08.10hrs by going to the A41 junction. While walking round i heard some one asking a marshsall at 10.00hrs how he was going to get out!!!
I have been every year since 1983 and have never seen it this busy, the que to get out started at 15.30hrs and i watched someone in a old Triumph not move for 2 hours when he started to go at 17.30hrs. We left at 20.00hrs and still took us 30 min to get off the airfield. I have no soloutions as to how to resolve the entry and exit problems other than go early and leave late, there was the same type of thread last year about the show.
As for the lack of fast jets i would say that the majority of people that went wouldnt be enthusiasts so would class Cosford as a family day out so the organisers would probably try to appeal to the highest common dominator, this isnt a criticism but i did see a man and woman enter the top hanger and the woman turned to the man and said “what are they?” “they are planes…..i think” he said.
The organisers should be thanked for putting the event on and coping with an unexpectedly high amount of vistitors. Thank you.
I attended the last T5 open day, well worth the money, def go and support this cause. Anyway was told that the Lansen had recently been brought and was going to be cosmetically restored, alas she has no engine in.
Made the Sun today
