Why not add another sub section to this rather than have a totally new forum, its all “Key” now anyway? It may draw in people on the sides of aviation etc to cross pollinate and draw in extra casual impulse purchases of mags
How many people turned up at Bruntingthorpe Saturday to look at 3 Lightnings, 2 that have been maintained in excellent running condition for near on 27 years, smaller may be the way. It may become a necessary evil in the future if lack of volunteers becomes an issue and a cull of airframes is required. Look at the age group currently volunteering
Nice one
U tube down as well
I’ve got some photos somewhere of the dismantaling process at cosford, they were moved down towards the railway line towards where the signal box used to be IIRC. Lots of people working on them when I took them I think
And those with no interest in aeroplanes have by and large funded 558 allowing those that are to see a Vulcan fly. They have upped airshow attendance and maybe just maybe some will come back in 2016 and an interest continues
Creaking door, yes, they can be transported by road. They were roaded into woodford in sections for final assembly. I think (others may know better) in theory (as in the Hendon example) you still could
Saberjet
“The Mail is news for people who aren’t interested in truth, just as fast food is for people who aren’t interested in food, Formula 1 motor racing is for people with no interest in motorsport…”
how do you work the refrence to F1 out, I go to Silverstone for the F1, the BTCC (Oulton Park and Donnington), BTRDA Rally series, Race Retro and WRC……… Where is the no intrest in motorsport???
Just noticed Gaydon ‘s car park is open till 22.00hrs hours. Wonder how many going?
Thanks Mike, agree
My point was that a small comment in the editorial and a foot note seems dismissive. Not everyone is on the Internet and trawl through it looking for a graphic shot. I was expecting a well balanced editorial piece as this could be the biggest issue to affect the industry since Farnborough . Admittedly there is at this time nothing further to add but to more or less ignore it is still in my opinion deplorable and very disappointing. If anything this now shows there is no need for two magazines owned by Key and one should go
WH904 I think that’s spot on. I recon the last flight will not be announced, be a private invite only event and not published until after the event
The thing is they, VTS haven’t said the 11th is the last flight either but as alluded to I doubt we will be told until after it has happened for it is returning to a live airport
Airfields????
I really do think we will not be told when the last flight was until it’s done, you only have to look at VTS Web site telling you not to go and secondly where would you put 20 to 30000 people? They will not see much in old Bawtry lane as they will all be stuck. It will be invite only and sworn to secrecy in my opinion, happy to be wrong though
