Just want to bump this to ask if anyone else wants to come along, I know its short notice, but if you are interested please get in touch.
We would also be interested in any other aviation related displays, so please think about it.
Ritch.
We intend taking our Chipmunk cockpit along, and I am told they will welcome anyone else who want’s to have a pre cockpitfest outing.
Let me know ASAP if anyone else want to join in.
Ritch.
Thanks Howard
That has saved my having to be honest in my ignorance!!! Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks at Cockpitfest.

Hi
I am told there is building work started although I have not been up there for a long time myself. My contact told me that they thought last year would be the last open day, but they have got the event going again this year. Thats all I know at the moment and am just canvasing interest from cockpit owners.
Thank’s Fly.buy, but as Dave say’s that is a diferent type of panel.
We need the type shown in this photo.

So, if anyone has any parts or literature available, we are interested!
Also, this project has been around a while, so we are interested to know it’s past history and if possible it’s identity.

Hi John
Thanks for showing us around today, the work you guys are doing is inspirational. It was interesting to see all of the bits together in the flesh, it certainly bought home the true size of your project.
Thanks again for your hospitality.
Ritch and Max.
Hi John
The guy had a very original / as removed from the aircraft Seahawk panel, it has about half the original instruments fitted and all of the original pipework still installed. There is also quite a lot of electrical wiring and the rear support structure. He remembers seeing it at Staravia many years ago, and thought it interesting so bought it. It has sat in his garage, untouched since and has been through 3 house moves!!!
Max is thrilled because the Seahawk was the very first aircraft he ever worked on aged about 12, when he worked on the ex Flambards airframe on Nev Martin’s pan at Bruntingthorpe. He used to take his sandwich’s and pop and sit and have his lunch sat on top of her, it was also the very first airframe we worked on together when I was recovering from my first heart attack. He has been looking for a Seahawk panel for years but never found one at a price he could afford till yesterday. From first phone call to getting it home from Debyshire was only about 3 hours!! That’s the way to do deals!!!
Also looking forward to collecting the other new project from you next week, that represents another of the airframes we worked on together at Brunty in the very beginning!!!
Ritch.
Thanks Yerry and Andy
Yes that’s the switch unit we saw. The other item was a vertical unit with a row of buttons on it, I didn;t take that much notice as we were more interested in Max’s new project that we went to collect. The guy isn’t an aviation enthusiast, but had some bits he had accumulated over the years and is having a clear out.
Anyway, thanks both,
Ritch.
TT what do you mean “when ****** all else of the aeroplane has!” You realy should talk to Tim, aka No.2.A.A.C.U. he may well suprise you!!!!
David, that is brilliant, thanks.
Does the rear shoulder harness have the same spreader bracket as the front one? the piece that holds the two straps appart?
Many trhanks for your help.
Ritch & Max.
Many thanks David, that would be a great help.
Howard, the look on your face when you thought they had dropped off the Ashton! I can imagine you at the next trustees meeting, “I didn’t touch it, it wasn’t me!! must have been those bloody cockpiteers again!!!!” Anyway, they never left his grasp till he got them home.
Thanks again to all at NAM, a great start to the Aviation year.
Hi TT
I thought it was you we saw wondering around the stalls, and I appologise for being rude and not saying hello, but our minds where on the treasure hunt.
Yes I am guilty, I was attached to the first Electra, N356Q, when she came over to the UK. I spent many hours in far flung places with my nose glued to those same manuals, whilst the rest of the crew where holed up in some nearby hotel. They had a lot more faith in my ability than I did!! Fantastic times though!!
We may see you again soon as we are thinking about making a Bruntingthorpe comeback this year and bringing the Chippy cockpit along to some of the events. It would be nice to see you guys again.
Best wishes,
Ritch and Max.
As always, a big thank you from Max and myself. A great day as always, good to see everyone, it no feels like the year has started for us. Special thank you’s to Howard for showing us around the Ashton, having worked on DC-3, Viscount, Convair, Electra and Comet airframes amongst many others, it was very interesting to compare and see the development, a privelage and we thank you for that. And to the great lady and guy on the museum stall, who persuaded me to purchase a masive pile of Electra nostalgia at a bargain price (but my car boot is still full and Mrs B dosn’t know yet!!) to remind me of my years as a “Flying Spanner” on the great bird.
Got home yesterday and booked into the hotel for Cockpitfest, can’t wait.
Hi Matt
Hope you are all keeping well, thanks for the help.
