for me its price! Ryanair are used a fair old bit now, but Jet2 (my local LBA) when conveniant, and a first hop on EZY have all been used. Also when i book for group trips i go mainly on price. All my crew are under 20 and if we go anywhere for 3 hours it’s only like going on the coach or bus – usually cheaper!

For example for me to get from my house to LBA via bus = approx £3.20, if 4 of us share a cab its about the same… I have personally never paid more than £3 for any Ryanair flight i have flown on (8 sectors)! The Jet2 ones were a bit more expansive at £1 and £9 to and fro AMS, and BCN was about £22 each way – all these plus tax. Currently looking at GVA with EZY at £12.99 out and £13.99 return – £46 incl taxes in total – but i need to do it in the next month before the end of the ski season!

I have booked a group recently of 13 people on bmibaby MAN-ORK in the height of summer for £60 return incl taxes – out end July, rtn early Aug, and have myself looked at Hapag Lloyd, Germanwings, FlyBe, SkyEurope, Snowflake, Iceland Express, Basiq and others whilst just looking on the net for trips – No.1 for me is price if its within Europe, then timing if for example its a feasable day trip or short break!

always good fun, and today we had problems with aircraft on the ground, never mind in the air! One SD360 at DUB and a HS748 at the same place Jumped double cocks on all gear as the wind swang from a southern to a westerly / north westerly jumping up to gusting 49 knots – the IOM actually had wind at a constant 47 knots – not gusting. One of our early morning got in, but the second one was out of limits to land at IOM, and shortly after even to t/o from LPL! All good fun eh!

Very sad for all those put out of a job.

My view was that EAL did a very solid job with the 1-11 ops. When they went to the B732 they got a good deal with the ex-Sabena a/c, but i think they then started trying to grow a little too fast. Then again, hindsight is a great thing!

… rumours in the pipelines that one of the HS748s is going in for a major revamp, so we could be seeing a 1960s vintage a/c in these colours too shortly!

yep as stated above the flights are on the B737-300s now. Last time it was the BAe 146-300 which i was very chuffed about as this was my first trip on a 146!

bat taken home… when i went as crew to places such as TFS and AGP they made us walk into the terminal for our spirits! Mind you it may have been differant if we were on a remote stand?

yes you can walk all the way down the terminal front at BCN and log all aircraft other than some on remote stands. But i think you will not be able to get back up there once you have collected your baggage. Other than that i cannot help. There is however a small museum down but at the far (domestic) end of the terminal which has a large collection of models etc and overlooks the area there most of the bizjets and smaller Iberia/Air Nostrum aircraft were parked (DHC-8, FK50, CRJ etc). Very vague but i hope it is of use to you!

NEVER! Keep the -200s, usually the highlight of the day at work (i like all things noisy), unless the RAF decide to give us an inpromptu Tornado flypast – always good too!

Seriously though I think i would rther have Ryanair return the B733s and keep a few -200s. I am in fact scheduled to fly on one of the -300s in about 10 days or so on the BLK-STN route, returning a few days later. Hopefully these will be the “yellow birds” – not the ones in the hybrid mess!
