As for Ukraina … that would be a waste of money IMHO but see for yourself: http://flot.sevastopol.info/eng/ship/ukrainian/ukraina.htm

It all depends on how much money.
-If it will cost the Russians just the installation of the remaining equipment (part and labour) plus a coat of fresh paint, it is a bargain.
-If they have to pay for the whole vessel, but at it’s 1990 price level, it is still a good deal.
-But if they have to pay for the whole vessel at 2010 prices. Then it is better to spend the money for something else.
Having said that, I believe the decision will not be made on money/finances/value/price basis, but more on political basis.
My two kopeks.
S- duct revisited.
I recently took these photos of an old retired Aermacchi that we use overhere for educational purposes.
Look, it has S-ducts 🙂 You can not see the engine face
Below is photo from rear with engine removed (you cannot see the intake).
So, the pesky Italians at Aermacchi had stealth technology decades before anybody else…. That is if you think theat S-ducts are soooo crucial in making or braking a stealth design:rolleyes:
So many pages about S-duct/engine shielding on the T-50 has made me a believer in that theory. So I will take my Aermacchi and take on all the best fighters the world can throw at me 😀
Come on guys, there so much more in stealth designs. Engine face shielding (S-duct, blocker or whatever) is just a small part of a big equation.
But, of course little Kapedani with his jerky fast conclusions will tell you that otherwise
Edit: Unlike Kapedani, I don’t use photoshopped photos. The above photos are made by me and are my property. I authorize anyone to use them on this forum for various purposes and threads.
One of the best documentaries on the S-300V.
Shows all the components with good detail.
In Russian.
Gibka – 3 km – IR – 1155 (Adm.Kulakov), 21630 (Astrakhan’)
Kolchan (Kinzhal upgrade) – 15km – r/com – 1155 (Severodvinsk – aft FCS)
Palica (naval Pantsyr’) – 15 km – r/com – ?
Redut (naval Vityaz’) – 40 km – AR – 20382, 22350
Krepost’ (naval S-400 Triumf) – 180 km – SAR/AR – ?Enjoy.
I think you mean Severomorsk.
By the way. What is the status of the follow on units of the Astrakhan? Also the second Tatarstan frigate?
Here are some thoughts for you guys.
Never mind what Pogosyan, Davydenko or others have said in the past.
The PAK FA is a prototype, a test-bed…in other words, just a start. Remember, the “P” stands for Perspectiveny (perspective).
From here it can go different ways (and it will).
Depending on what the Russian military decides what is needed for their needs, the final production aircraft will evolve into one or more of the following:
– An F-22 beater. The most expensive option of course.
– In the same league as the F-22.
– Slighty less capable than the PAK FA. Craptor fans on this forum have already decided that good old Vlad (Putin) has opted for this variant :diablo:
– An export variant that will barely qualify as 5th generation. May not even have RAM coating.
There will be a variant for Indian needs. A naval model is expected. There may be a dedicated strike model as well (a la Su-34).etc.etc
Just think back of programs like the still going strong Flanker family and the MiG-23/27 families.
One thing is for sure. Unlike the USA and it’s short lived F-22 program, the Russians will milk the PAK FA program for decades.
Just pick up a big bag of popcorn and stay tuned.
The interesting thing is the Positiv on the fock-mars. Allegedly it’s role is target acquisition for Gibka.
I can’t see the 2 small radars associated with the RASTRUB/METEL rockets.
Has the GIBKA taken the place they occupied?
How will they guide the RASTRUB/METEL frm now if their radars are gone?
Vice Admiral Kulakov after modernization. Note that the pennant number is not completed yet at the moment this photo was taken. It is now number 659.

so, it’s roughly 3 flights per month-first flight included, or roughly one per 10 days. Is it a good ratio?
Not a good yardstick to make meanengfulll judgments. Because during this time, the prototype was painted. It also was partly disassembled and shipped to Zhukovsky.
PAK FA has performed six flights.
Interfax.
Fanboy thread :diablo:
More SMT

12x9M96 or 48x9M100 or a mix.
So it is a naval version of the VITYAZ ?

By the way Snake65,
How many more Pr 20380 ships are under construction? Is there one being built in the far east?
Soobrazitelny is launched today
AFAIK, there are 1 unit already in service (Steregushy), 1 unit being launched todayand 2 more in construction at St. Petersburg.
There was also a fifth unit started in the far east, is that one being completed as well?
Photo of the Vice Admiral Kulakov with most of the modernization done.
– Fregat main radar installed
– Klinok SAM with fir ontrol radar installed at rear
Looks like Gibka short range SAM is also installed upfront (difficult to say from photo).
There may be other modifications/upgrades but cannot tell from picture.

There is still one flying SU-22 (two seater in Russia) it is in Komosomolsk na Amur. Operated by Knaapo as a chase plane.
