In fairness the current government does not take money of the armed forces, it just expects them to do far more than it can with what it already gives.

In real terms the MoD budget has increased under Labour (admittedly by a fraction of a percent) But it is expected to fund far more with it, such as Iraq and Afghanistan along side multiple large procurement projects.

I do see your point though and I agree with you.;)

Its getting to the point now when we can barely afford to run 2 carriers.

I suspect Cking’s well aware JT’s aircraft is a 707, but the 707 having the same fuselage width as and being similar to the 737 I imagine there are many similarities between the two! 🙂

    Paul

    Ah i see.

    sorry Cking.

His Son is called Jett and his daugter is called Ella. The old softie!!!!

Whiskey Delta. That patch looks worse in your picture! I’m in work tomorrow, I’ll have a look in the 737 SRM to see if there is a standard repair for a crack or something.
BEFORE anybody says anything, I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with the aircraft, or having a “go” at Mr Travolta, or his aircraft, or its maintenance. It’s just in twenty odd years of operating 737’s I’ve never seen a patch there, thats all.

    Rgds Cking

You do know JT operates a 707 right.

Not yet. Invincible is still in reserve, not scrapped.

Doesn’t matter now doubt the RN could afford to run her now with the amount of money the goverment keeps taking of them.

Belive it or not most of the SAR Sea kings used to be commandos Infact the two we have RAF Boulmer are Falklands vets.

The commando is just a version of the Sea King.

Is the powerplant still in common supply ? (S’cuse my ignorance.)

I would have thought there would still be the odd spare engine knocking about. Southend for example.

Thats got me thinking how many proper 707s are still flying,

These are the ones i can think of:

    Lowas 707-300
    John travoltas 707-100.
    The Qantas jet.
The three SAHA air 707s in Iran, The only ones still carring passengers in the world.

I think it said on GMTV that he had been flying for 30+years. Im glad that everything is ok. Plus it isn’t the first time he has had to do this. I seem to remeber a few years back he had a problem on another jet.

Also glad that the 707 is ok would be such a shame to loose such aircraft.
