Hollywood star John Travolta was forced to make an emergency landing in Ireland on Monday while piloting his private jet from Germany to New York. The actor, who was jetting back to the US after promoting his new movie Wild Hogs in Germany, landed safely at Shannon Airport after his Boeing 707 suffered “technical difficulties” mid-flight. He was said to be unhurt but shaken by the dramatic incident. Nevertheless, the 53-year-old hired another plane and completed the journey, while his jet was grounded for repairs. A source reveals, “If he hadn’t made it to Shannon, it could have been the end of him. You could tell that he was very relieved.” A spokesman for Shannon Airport confirms, “John Travolta was diverted to Shannon due to technical difficulties.” Eight years ago the star suffered a similar mid-air drama when his plane lost an engine and he was forced to make an emergency landing in Boston.
So he has left that gourgous 707 in shannon!!
Man i love that Tristar!! Second time in a week shes been in the UK she was working for Monarch out of MAN.
Good news Lukey, bit confusing when your post is timed three minutes before the landing! (Flypast time is GMT and you are now in BST). Anyway, what plans after Prestwick, surely not across the Atlantic with wheels down?
Wups sorry about that.
IM guessing shes in at prestwick for some maintaince. Wheels down now ive heard of that been done in country That 747SP in South Africa a few years back but across the atlantic thats going to cut down her speed a bit.
Cabin crew are only phycos after a flight when they meet a vodka and coke :diablo:
She arrived at Prestwick at 13.00 hours. It said on PPRUNE she was making the journey with her landing gear down all the way.
Great to see the Jet2 146 up and running from NCL planning to use that service soon.
Thanks , too bad but I’m affraid you won’t see the Tristar anymore as it is on the black list (banned planes in Europe) 😎
What i thought they just retired it!! So that gourgous beast of a plane is now sitting in the Congo doing nothing!!
Head for PPRUNE theres lots of talk about it over there, Even from the pilot who is going to fly her.
I think they have retired the Tristar now *gutted* It was the only route they used her for.
Great shots mate.
