It was commonly called the whisperliner by Eastern airlines because at the time it was purported to be the quietest airliner in the sky

Such sad news.
Great idea mate.
Newcastle international airport. NCL.
Well this year has got off to a great start for NCL with the announcement that Emirates will start a daily flight to Dubai in september with an A330-200. Early sales have been great according to local media: a small clipping from the newcastle journal.
“Hundreds of seats have already been booked to Dubai and to further destinations including China and Australia, with October’s half term and next Christmas and New Year flights filling up fast. Business class seats are also proving popular – with one independent travel agent selling virtually the entire section in one day.
Jane Bernstone, director of Jesmond Travel, says the firm has been overwhelmed with the response to the launch. They sold 25 seats out of 27 available in business class in just 24 hours. Jane said: “The demand has been fantastic, not just for Dubai, but beyond. Up to now, people have had to drive to Manchester or Glasgow or get an extra flight to London, with all the taxes that involves. People have been paying through the nose and have effectively been penalised for living in the North-East. This changes all of that.”
An Emirates spokesman said: “We are absolutely delighted with the interest that has been shown in our new service, both from business and leisure travellers. Travellers from across the North-East are clearly starting to recognise the benefits of having a direct, long-haul service to the east from their local airport, which means they will encounter no costly time delays by having to transit via airports in London or continental Europe. Over the past week alone, several hundred travellers have already booked to travel with Emirates from Newcastle.”
Chiefs at the airline expect up to 200,000 passengers a year to use the service. Regional development agency One NorthEast was instrumental in helping persuade Emirates to launch the service – visiting Dubai to promote the value of an investment in the North-East. A spokesman said: “We are delighted that Emirates’ confidence in the region has been rewarded with such a healthy initial take-up from business class travellers.”
Other long haul interest comes in the shape of contenental who are considering launching a flight to New York Once a day.
Jet2.com.
Jet2.com in my opinion are going take of from easyjet at NCL as the dominate Low cost carrier, as to be honest easyjet at Newcastle have been bad this last year.
We now have 14 routes either operating now or coming online in the summer. At the moment we have 2 QC 737s based at Newcastle, we belive that NCL will get a further 2 737s, a 757 and a BAE 146 for the gatwick run.
Aer Arran.
Aer Arran have announced that they will start a service to Galway useing an ATR 72.
Aer Lingus.
Now run a once daliy service to Dublin, in reaction to this ryan air have changed some of there flight times around for there Dublin run.
All in all a good year for NCL and i see great things to come for us over the next year. My main wish is for more long haul.
Good luck to them.
Be good to see the 767 they got when they purchased *cough cough* Flyjet doing some work.
Your in luck there young fella. I just happen to be on the same course at newcastle college in my second year. Im guessing your coming close to doing your role plays and mock interview day??
What is it your after mate ??
I think there only big delay at NCL last year was when AB i think diverted into gatwick on a postioning flight with some sort of problem and a tristar had to come cover.
Theres something not right here……………… no EK :dev2: just joking mate.
Great shots mate love the CO 757 take off.
well would ya look at that!! whats that bird doing so far away from home!!
Its parked remote due to lets just say the activites of its owner.
I was just about to say for all there mis givings last year they have done really well out of NCL.
SilverJet only bought flyjet to get there hands on there 767.
Flyjets 757s leases are up soon rumour has it there both off to FED EX at the end of this year.
Nice shots.
1 question though. Is there any more plans to add more jetbridges at NCL. If they want to attract new airlines there going to need them.
None as yet mate lets just see how emeriates do first before we talk about any more big airlines wanting to come to newcastle. But a little birdie tells me that CO are interested.
Great shots mate. The New Emeriates Airbridge ive never seen it used yet.
Which other days do the jet2 757s fly into newcastle??
