We are now at stage where everyone is too worried to upset anybody, Even to the point that putting up Christmas lights or showing the Union Flag or English flag is taken as non PC.

I am not Christian so should I put up Christmas lights?

Hell yes. and Why? Because I like them and I want to. Christmas to me is more about doing things as a family and decorating the house nice than a religious statement.

Should anyone try to stop me putting up my lights or draping a Scottish flag over my own property I would defend my rights with my life.

This country is going too far in trying to keep everyone happy. Just let people get on with their own lives and deal with any issues raised as and when they need to be.

I do agree there are some really bad people out there who would go out just to cause trouble but it is our job as a nation to punish and outcast them.

I am a live and let live kind of guy but where does all this PC bull**it end and common sense and decency begin.

Your story has nothing to do with political correctness. It has to do with health and safety.

And just what has objections to barbaric bloodsports got to do political correctness?

Because Barbaric Bloodsport are no longer Politically Correct.

    If indeed they ever were.

    Had a PC moment today.
Held the lift for a lady saying ” here you go my love”

    “Im not your love”!!!!!

    me “Oh sorry sweetheart”

    “im not your sweetheart either”

I think the walking away muttering “Daft bint” was the straw that broke the camels back…

LOL brilliant. This got me laughing today.

So did you follow it up with ” Sorry sugar” or “I do apologise sweet cheeks”

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I know some people dont like it much but I dont mind if women call me doll or sweetheart or etc etc etc. Its nice and it usually older women who do. But I have a few younger women that I know call me hun or hunny. Do I mind not a bit.

This made me really laugh today.

    Thanks sweetheart.;)

    LOL

    Fantastic find.

Reading backwards do I notice through the pages that he was awarded several commendations while in RAF service.

I hope that his Grandaughters memories of him and the service etc turned out how she wanted them to be.

It Aint half hot mum was a fantastic program. It was maybe a sterotypical Indian potrayed but he did so brilliantly and that is why it was great comedy. No one but the minority was going to go out the next day and abuse an Indian person after seeing the program were they. ALthough I am sure there would be a few at work that would have got it the next day.

I remember being in the army and getting called Jock all day long. I didnt like it but I put up with it. There were three of us all call Jock. So why did I put up with it well. As said there was Wee Jock, another guy just called Jock and then there was me. Big Jock. Nobody messed with Big Jock and I have no idea why. I wasnt that mean or fierce but I had that rep for some reason. So Big Jock stuck with me. lol.

I must get that programme on DVD boxset. It was fantastic.

However Love thy neighbour was different as I ddint actually like that programme. Not because I found it offensive but because I just didnt like it. Probably quite a lot in it I would laugh at now.

Then we have Jim Davidson and his Chalky character. You dont see that on tv anymore. Well it is comedy and a range of comedy is great. As I said to my brother the other day if we cant laugh at ourselves then who can we laugh at. Take the pi55 out of yourself and no one can take that away from you.

A lot of people out there with a sense of humour bypass.

I am actually quite sick of all this Sh1t with the use of the bloody dogs name which is Nigger. Its what it was called.

Seriously though I would rather see the film made with Digger but I think they should have text at the end of the film explaining that his Dog was actually Nigger but due to words changing meaning it was changed to digger. They owe Nigger and Gibson at least that.

I dont really want another dog because they take up so much of your time but I am tempted to get one and indeed his name would be Nigger. I am not ashamed of being proud of our history or heritage.

Just because one section of society do not like the word it means something different to me.

If this is how the world is going to turn then no longer should we hear the use of the word Nigger in any Rap songs or any publication. Same with any other names used that cause offence.

How do Welsh people take to being called Taff or Scottish people Jock or Scottie or whatever. We all know the word used for Pakistani people that is very frowned uopn. A lot of people still use this word today and indeed I have used it too but only as a shortened version of the word when going to the corner shop and never as a racist abuse comment. Same with going for a chinese. And on and on it goes. It the minority that spoil it for the rest of us.

I am going to leave my comments there as this thread has been done to death. Not sure where its really going apart from everyone getting their own point over.

There are actually three of these spots and I would suggest that these may be planets and moons.

Seems like the way they are aligned looks remarkable like a planet alignment.

The light may just have been good enough to catch them.

    Hi Moggy,

Do you like a good walk???

If so then look out for trips to Samaria Gorge.

You will be taken high into the White mountains and then down the side of the same mountains dropping over 1000 ft over the first 2K. It will take from 8am till roughly 4 pm with a 30min break in between. And the only way out is a ferry at the end of trip. Luckily there are cafes and shops for drinks while you wait for the ferry.

And it just so happens to be the same route that the Greeks lead out the Allied forces to the waiting ships. Unfortunately the allies had to leave behind a lot of the forces to be captured by the Germans a few days later. It is also the third largest gorge in the world.

    Well worth the visit.

I know this is an old post and please retitle the thread again moderators. But……

I have been on this airfield and it is quite something else.

I was also almost arrested until the locals found out I was scottish and was allowed to leave with my cameras and film intact.

Basically this is very near the small village of Haraki. Which has a fort that looks over the village and harbour which looks disused but believe me it is or at least was patrolled by Greek soldiers. There is also a small military compound which is no more than a dusty yard and a couple of wooden huts. After this you start to get onto the airfield and its dusty tracks. There are many bunkers along the track and indeed unexploded ordanance. I also found many ammo tins. You can walk along to where a ship sits beached which I belive is used by Greek military to practice ship exercises such as taking over an enemy held ship. Once here you can find the Control Tower. It is a 3 level building consisting of a ground level an upper level which is basically a box but with a very fine brass compass point laid into the roof. I believe it is Italian. I used to have video footage of all of this but several moves and an ex wife later I no longer have the footage. And the third level is a basement or bunker complete with machine gun slits.

Dont be fooled by its derelict state it is an active training ground.

I was lucky that day but I fully believe any misunderstanding would have been resolved soon after talking to an english speaking police man. However this did not happen.

Moral of the story is dont go near this place unless you have a local guide or permission to be there.

I would like to go back with someone who knows this place well and would be able to point out things I didnt see.

The control tower is very nice and I hope it is still there.

The Italians did build this airfield and the the Germans took over the airfield afterwards to continue operations from it.

There are the usual stories of aircraft in the sea just off the beach but not being a diver I cant give that story any substance.

If you search this forum for Rhodes you may find my other comments on this airfield. Dont know how much info I got to be honest.

You only have to pop along to Old Warden to watch the Shuttleworth Trust SE5a fly, its a full size original.

    Thanks Richard,

Yes I have been to OW about 3 times now. But my first sight of a Se5a was a replica. And only many years after that was I able to see the OW example. I consider myself very lucky to have seen both.

As you mentioned being in Scotland isnt very handy for popping into OW but its only 5 and a half hours away should I wish to visit.

    Well done to all involved.

A partial replica at least lets you see the size and shape in the air again.

I would never have seen an Se5a if it had not been for a replica.

Is it just me or does the replica seem to have a C of G problem.

Do all mossies take off and land like that??
