Your reaction perhaps exemplifies the point being made. Why should it cause you anguish to be criticised for your beliefs? If you truly believe, and I respect that you do, then does the criticism matter?

In all seriousness I expect it is the latter………………

You really are having a rough time, BSG, and I feel for you. It sounds as though the other half really does not know what she wants, although she seems not to want you. Is there a hope that her lack of clarity indicates no more than a “rough patch” and that perhaps common sense will prevail eventually? It doesn’t sound as though you are at each others throats day and night, at least.

I’m sure you are right but equally sure that there would be little sympathy for anyone bending their mounts due to carelessness.

I wonder if that sort of loss of concentration was common or rare.

Whilst what you say is undeniably true it is like comparing apples with pears. Norway is a small country with a small economy and did have vast oil wealth, which far outweighed the demands of its economy. The UK’s economy was and still is many times larger and the demands on its resources many times greater. However that does not negate your point and there is no doubt that successive governments have mishandled our resources.

I gave up taking myself seriously years ago, seeing as nobody else did …

We Christians aren’t all a po-faced lot you know.Daughter showed me a tee-shirt in a catalogue yesterday that really cracked me up – it was a portrait of Jesus with His arms stretched out and ” B.R.B ” underneath.

BB, you are the sort of Christian I, as an atheist, can live with ( metaphorically you understand), whereas Ryan seems to be of the more fundementalist persuasion, and seems less relaxed in his belief and more defensive in his exchanges.

I think it has been mentioned previously but I wouldn’t have thought that the true believer would be concerned with criticism. I imagine they would be comfortable with what they thought was right and without the need to justify the belief.
