Well maybe, maybe not, i still think that the weight is the main problem (maybe also the lack of accurate), but a very little cannon shooting chaff-flare or aluminium could be as a good counter-measure, anyone have something to read about rear launch missile?????

weigth and useless, guns were important (in vietnam war) because the “baby-age” missile techs…. , an cuasi-omnidirectional missile dont need more space in the airframe (you need 2 heavy guns, an huge munition distribuition system, more sensors -an missile need relatively less-), yes i also thougt in an CIWS airborne but is toooooooooooo heavy for a plane…

    Hello Seahawk!!!

“On a fighter it would mean you sacrifice at least one pylon for a purely defensive weapons system….In such a case I think it makes more sense to have a missles that makes a U-turn”

Your rigth with that, but theorical you could use versions of the same now -days systems , i think that the defender plane can shoot the missile even before is attacked, yes even with the balistic problems that can be solved with TVC (remember that TVC will be the standar in short range missile) , for me the main problem is the direction (IR-Radar), it can be solved with an pasive receptor together with an back facing radar???? or an back IRST???? this weapons will be aviable to the next generation figthers???????

“Or could one make a missile that turn around 180° before igniting the rocket motor, using only the control surfaces??”

Very interesting idea, but you have increase of weigth, and maybe subsonic aerodynamical problems -at supersonic isnt a goog idea-

“Harriers had all aspect IR guided missile in the Falklands yet they got on the tails of the enemy planes before they fired to increase the PK.”

    Interesting,
Well, theire missiles doesnt have such system, also to shot the sidewinder the harrier must point with the nose the target, so the only way to shot in a chase is flying in retro…,but youre right in some aspects, the IR seeking missiles are bad in frontal shoot.

“Wait, if a plane is being chased and it fires a missile, since it is being chased, the missiles range would be much longer. Let’s say it’s normal range is 15kms….”

The real problem is that the “agressor” plane is gettin closer in the missile rute so the range is relative, yes the plane could made an maneuvre but it take out the target to the view-radar

    Indrac,Alex

Well having an rear facing radar doent mean that you have such missiles-system, i think that the russians are still researching that weapon, anyone can tell me if america too??? if anyone have some information of the control (passive-active radar, IR)????

Also i never said “increase of range” i just said “can be launched from more distance” ,think a bit more about it…

Yes, but that maneuvre only takes maybe an second or less (with TVC), after that the missile travel at full power also the “agressor” go just in colission with the missile

Now that we are speculating -even get away of the topic 😀 – ,what about the pakaf??? some says that will have the same airframe of the berkut  , here is my speculation, by the way, the berkut have some stealth features???? -i doubt, but i like that relative low wing-

    PLA, Goldendragon..

“The major difference is the inlet(s). For the rest those wings are pretty much the same. (Fc1/F16)

Not even close. The FC-1’s lineage and inspiration is based on the F-16 if anything.”

Others says that is an Mirage f1, but who care!!!!

Theres the fulcrumski stealthsky with low wing….

An question…the Mig 29 can use theire alternative inlet (wing apex) in an subsonic fligth?????

“few have the luxury or ability to build a F22 which is ahead of all potential threats. others build what they need limited by what they can do”

JAjajaja, dont make me laugth, i would say “few have the luxury or ability to build an very bad machine that cost tons of money like the F22 “

Su 34 nose is the better option (for stealth)

My idea is not so revolutionary like Aerospacetech (mig 1.44) or Srbian (f 32??), but i think thats the best configuration for an stealth “flancrum” 🙂 fighter…using the su34 nose (a), angling the vertical tailes (b) and rising the engines level (c), and maybe with an more lower wing (its not include), the result is an aerodinamical shape with stealth features (yes im not an super-engineer, but well…. i know some basic concepts) , i dont think the use of internal bay could be an good idea, because the increase of weigth, also the airframe could use theire inbetween-engines “cannal” ,and down-leveled nose like a bay, the use of TVC and cannards is optional and depends of the weigh, with almost the same wing and controls.

“Why after working on the Mig 1.4X airframes would they go back to the Mig-29 9.1X airframes ? It makes very little sence.”

Infrastructure…..one thing is design and build an prototipe, another much diferent is create -or modify- an production-industrial chain, i think that an flanker-fulcrum modified airframe could have good stealth features….but i doubt about the supercuiser, but who knows at the end they could use the 14x airframe or another

Ups….i dont want to write more about the market war, maybe i will wait another thread, but the point is that the russians are learning the rules in this new world, and theire “invading” american traditional market…..best regards to all…good bye
