Israel is really gearing up for this Iran thing… trial flights to Greece and Spain, MiG-29 dogfights in heavy load configurations… They’re really preparing for the real deal.

I have a very bad feeling about this.

If they are really gearing or training for such mission, there should not be these kind of news, all that should be very secretive

They know they can’t, so they are doing a lot of show, to press the iran’s politicians (or at least , the dumb ones)

The Airborne Laser was being developed to counter against Russia mainly and possibly China.

Was not laser-747 designed to intercept short range missiles while they are ascending? i doubt a laser would be successful against a protected warhead already falling, the deal was to destroy the fuel rooms of the missile on the early flight

So, i doubt it was designed to counter ICBMs, it was designed against Scuds/Iskander and such sort of missiles

Also, remains to be seen how successful it was..people get impressed because something is shiny…but when reports popped out about considering it to be used also to burn “terrorists”…heh i started to doubt about it success

The new administration wants to suck up to Russia for the Afghan route

I really dont like to talk about domestic politics on other countries…but the laser was not designed to counter big russian missiles….also the U.S. is doing exactly what you said, but change the word “Russia” for “India”

I doubt the increase of raw materials costs (like titanium) would have a significative effect over the Raptor production costs

A training kill warranted a kill decal. That gives an idea how rare it is

Putting decals after training is a way to troll the other team, pretty normal thing, and did happen many times before, especially when you kill a supossed superior -which of course the 22 is , but God, how is way overrated- aircraft, after exercises have been seen jaguars, f-104s, with F-16, F-15 marks

The interesting thing is that was killed by a radar missile, meaning that the active radar head (which is not very powerful) is considered capable to keep contact -in the worst case- at WVR

The funny thing is all the reaction, “no impossible it was a pasive missile” “but the 18g is a supercomputer”, etc..even “why did they put decals?, seems extrange..”…funny

People do realise the growler is as close to a flying super computer as you can probably get dont they?

    Are you kidding…right?

Uh, I think that would be the folks that have flown the plane at M1.7+.

Well. lets see if that one is the optimiced supercruiser regime, or just the top speed at supercruiser…

I would agree in everyday life. In military terms though it can stand for pretty much anything, without limitation.

Oh God, same is applied to the f16/18, both have values of M2/1.8+, specifically for the f-16 the speed was M2.05, but nobody was claiming M2.2,2.3…is just recently that the M1.5+ means M1.7…don’t know who did start with that crap

The info has always been M1.5+.

    That stand for M1.51,1.52,1.53,1.5+

    Not for 1.6,1.7…1.9

It’s Low probability of intercept, not No probability of intercept. Do you realise that the Growler has one of the best fighter AESAs out there, and a superb ESM and jamming package that other fighters can’t compete with?

Are you kidding? a “LPI” keeping contact within the whole flight of a passive missile?

And is not true that the F-22 has nice magical electronics too?

And in general the amraam missiles are for self defence, is a multirole with a nice jamming capacity, but it mission is not to destroy targets with pasive amraams but to give support against SAMs, but of course, since it downed a 22 on a exercise, the plane is now a superfortress

The plane is an 18F with a huge load of ECM, is not an ELINT, super electronic spy..God
