Lasers are a big trouble..the only energy efficient ones works at IR wavelenght, without a big mirror your output power is relative low..thats why a system must spend some time shooting over the target until the laser do the job, time that is precious in the tactical rol, especially against high speed targets

chemical ones must be recharged, you only have some shots to spend until you run out of chemicals

better idea would be an 747 filled with s-300…

guess this billionarie project will end in advances in the complex science of how to cut cheese….

Zmey, which speculation in your opinion is the most probable for the new plane?

well i agree with the zmei guy…seems that the russians arent so desperated as were in the90s, and they are returning to the old -and for them more efficient- policies of the old soviet union

really ..how many Rustam drawns have beed published?..ok that might be because many configurations were studied, but this guy can be trusted?, thats because, just a few pages back ppl were talking about a f-23…now is looking like the 144 -or1.42..whatever, im not good remembering these details-

Canards movement is like -or lower then- the tailplanes, depends also what function is for, because are canards for maneouvre/control and others for “soft control”, the lasts are more dynamic, there are also fixed cannards that works as small tailplanes generating lift with relative movement of the plane, depends also of the size, with such huge cannards the movement is clearly lower than tailplanes to generate lift to maneouvres , not like the tailplanes that works increasing relative drag and need more relative movement for maneouvre also is clear that arent soft-control canards -too big-, but in general the movement control demand depends of the overall aerobalance of the plane

so this Rustam new model is new , where come from?.., it dont have low wing configuration, so isnt a truely stealth design, you dont need to be a genius to know that are many returns downwards…is more like the f-22

i find interesting i remember posting some time a similar configuration, well lets see, i prefer a stealther flanker, but that configuration dont work for SC

but well, lets see, with all these speculations arround that plane…at least isnt like the f-23 abomination….

Dork Dork Dork..so whats up?? patriot works with passive guidance with that 4-6 ghz radar, that is without IR missile or active homming -the last was a late upgrade-

the example i gave u about the Arrow -with 1 Ghz radar- was to put you clear that such “OMG impossible to know where is with search radar” that is so popular now, isnt true, Arrow was designed to down planes and misssiles -but of course with such costs and size it pramery mission are ballistics-, and about presicion knowledge of the target -that is what we are talking about- ABM is a lot lot lot more demanding than SAMs, and that the combo of active head + search radar works

thats was how the f-117 was downed, and works fine, is just too easy to understand…wasnt that the plane flew the same route, or that evil french spy…

“because longer range for the tracking and guidance phases was more important than ranging precision for this application”

man actually all is about that, of course a 1 Ghz wont have the precision of an 10 Ghz stuff, but again the presicion is done by the missile head

Dork, u dont need X band to down a plane…patriot system doesnt use X band, of course X band i great for a very precise interception, and is a MUST for very very fast targets like ballistics, but due the computing process advances in the 80s you really dont need such frecuency to know with acceptable precision (below 100 mts) where is a plane

just take a look on the arrow system a search radar with IR tracking, and works fine..and that against even a harder target like an ballistic

wow dork u really have lot of free time to make such huge post…..

“With the right tactics a 1960s SAM can bring down a state of the art stealth bomber.”

    search radar + IR/active radar head….job done

“The B-2 would actually have been the current state of the art at the time, then.”

yeah….designing a facetade stuff of such size…dont ask for miracles

i really like technical disscusions, and almost always keeps away from this kind boring threads….but really really is funny how you guys have made such a mess only by an excersice -actually i got a good laugh with the evolution of this thread-

    well is hard the temptation

you are in a boring patrol, when a carrier is on sight, what you gonna do??, of course direct ur bear to the ship!!

and later watch the news of a bunch of paranoids…and read the sferrin yelling on the keypublishing forum

dont understand why when the russians want to get some fun with carriers, then one of u guys jumap sayin “putin trolling again!”…lol, like if the evil puting is driving the tu-95 or telling his generals to do that, pretty sure isnt the case

russians just want some fun, carriers are the weakest defensive plataform, let them to have some fun

of course they know the faceting concept, but not as advanced like lokheed, the XST drawns have no way near faceting than the f-117

so the gave up, one thing are the blueprints..and other is to make ti fly, even lockheed team did modifications to have blue, sacrificing stealthness to make the plane more stable, the northrop problems were clear when you see the complete verticals fins on them original design

wow the world need these absorvers…since they can absorve energy effectivelly in such low quantum levels -RF- they could make the ultimate solar panels…i really doub that

“If you would stand too close the hair would stand up”

composites materials get ionazed easely, also the ferropaint do that, and actually a boeing 747 after landing, when isnt well grounded -which is dangerous-…. but you need a high dense ionized gas arround -plasma.. i hate that word, sometimes is taken in so lighty way..- to get absorcion/refraxion effect -much like the ionosphere-, something that seems not practical because it get difussed by the plane movement

im still waiting something official about the russian plasma stealth, that seems like a practical failure
