I’m quite sure that we’re all truly very sorry to hear about your minister, and would extend our condolencies and best wishes to those around him.

Having said that, you do need to explain:

    a) How this is relevant to the subject at hand, and

    b) Why any of us should modify the way in which we express ourselves on this forum in the light of this sad news.

After a sombre morning,I derived some quiet amusement from exchanges such as ” where people have open minds and sensible proportions – Whatever makes you think they’ll want you ? ” and other gems in the last few posts, including the creative spelling of ” amaised “.

I presume the aim is to be polite to other posters,so I’m politely pointing out that I found it amusing when some posters were impolite to each other.

Look,I’m particularly hacked off today and I thought it was funny ,OK ? Now go suck a lemon.

    Gentlemen

At a time of great personal sadness ( the minister of my church, just a year older than me,is dying ), your sparkling repartee has made my day.

Some of you need your heads banging together.

My town is being destroyed as we speak, building of over 100 years old burning down 😡

My home town too – what point does anyone think they’re making by destroying Reeves’ shop ? I could weep.

Sympathies to everyone affected by this destruction, wherever they are.

Just pointless violence, can anyone rationalise it ?

Mr. Bee retires in five weeks’ time and we’ll be manacled together twenty-four hours a day for ever.

Keep finding wasps indoors and can’t see how on earth they’re getting in if the window’s shut.

Saw Christmas cards in a shop on Saturday.

    Autumn leaves are falling already.

Should have done a car boot sale yesterday but Mr. Bee wouldn’t get up in time.

Daughter keeps playing heavy metal VERY LOUD. The hamster’s probably gone deaf.

My demented Mum thinks I’m pregnant. I’m 63.

I ironed an earwig to death yesterday inside a pilllow-case I’d just taken off the line.

My favourite rose didn’t have any flowers at all this year.

Absolutely everybody is taller than me,younger than me and enjoying life much more than me 🙁

are you a married lady who would like to contribute her thoughts on the matter?

    Well,I am married ….:diablo:

You’ve been together for two years,so her Dad knows it’s a long-term relationship. He probably realises that marriage is a possibility.
Other family members like you, whatever your income.

You say Dad talks to you with as much respect as anyone else, but you feel that’s not the case. Maybe that’s just your perception ? Has he ever said anything to your girlfriend that confirms this attitude ?

Speaking as an older person,I think you’ll find her Dad will be pleased if you ” ask his permission” to marry his daughter. These days everyone knows that you’ll go ahead and do what you want, whatever he says. He may even be delighted that you choose to get married instead of living together.
Good luck on Friday, and do tell us how you proposed if it’s not too personal 😀
