Ah,the Cosmic Joker strikes again ….

(If you don’t know what the Cosmic Joker is,you can look it up in Urban Dictionary, but for pity’s sake be careful where you look.I’ve learnt some things I really didn’t need to know in there.)

    P.S. Poor chap 🙁

Mrs “B”. As you started this, is there anything you would like to add,”In the nicest possible way of course”.;)

    Jim..
    Lincoln .7

Only for heaven’s sake stop nit-picking you men,is there a full moon or something ?

I was just curious to know whether anyone had actually got tickets, since anyone I know who’s applied hasn’t had a sniff of one.
Personally I don’t have the slightest interest in sport, unless it’s lawn bowls which I used to play very badly,or Sumo wrestling which is the only sport which fits my attention span ….
In fact the first time I went to Australia,Mr. Bee’s extended family lined up to poke me to see if I was real,as they couldn’t believe anyone could be indifferent to sport.

So,only one person with tickets so far ?

As for the cheap gibe about the war,I very much doubt whether a single contributor to this thread is actually old enough to have had the chance of killing enemy forces back then.
If you’ve faced that task as a member of the services, then you have my gratitude.

The perp has the choice of not breaking into your home & therefore it’s his choice if he wants to risk getting shot & losing his life.. or not….

Well I must away and arm myself forthwith then,as a pensioner I’m obviously a sitting duck

I’d love to debate the connection between a dislike for the dishing out of rough justice and a refusal to serve your country in a war situation, but I’ve just used up the last drops of today’s pint of the milk of human kindness on my demented mother.

    Have fun,chaps.

I’d suggest that the homeowner who gets burgled is more ‘wronged’ than the burglar who gets killed while robbing somebody!

The homeowner loses material possessions and the security of their home. They’re important things, and I’m not belittling the profound effect of their loss.
But surely you don’t think they’re more valuable than someone’s LIFE ? Good grief !

    Hypothetical question.
If you bring your child up properly, and they get in with the wrong crowd and start breaking into houses,do they deserve to die ?
My sympathies are entirely with the householder.who was forced to react in what must have been a terrifying situation, but let’s not forget that a life has been lost, however little some posters think it was worth.
I don’t imagine he feels that he deserves a medal.

And yes, as mentioned before, the whole future of GD is under debate.

    Moggy

I’d be sorry to see it go,though I’ve always seen it as the area of the forum where the social-only members sit drinking, smoking and chatting up the women, while the important stuff happens elsewhere.
As someone with only a tenuous hold here ( I like flying-boats – that’s it ),over the past couple of years I’ve been entertained, infuriated and found support and virtual friendship.

That’s me out of this thread, because it seems that anything regarding political correctness turns nasty eventually.
