This case just gets more unbelievable – apparently he’s going to appeal the conviction on the grounds that she’s too young for her evidence to be reliable .

I think the defendant and the victim should BOTH be anonymous.Since by the very nature of the crime there are only two people present it is usually one person’s word against the other. It’s not unknown for a woman to falsely accuse a man of raping her.Even if he’s acquitted, mud sticks. I’ve always thought it unfair that he’s named and she’s not.

My daughter – in floods of tears Friday because the boyfriend legged it after she’d foolishly uttered the commitment word.Just rang up to invite her old Mum to visit her at university for a couple of nights.Ah,the resilience of youth .

Whilst on this particular subject, can I say that there is one thing I think is absolutely intolerable in a fair society – the fact that the defendant is identified in a rape trial but the victim remains anonymous .

That sounds a lot more civilised than was suggested in the report I read. That said, being cross-examined in a rape case must be traumatic enough for an adult,God knows what it must be like for a child.Apparently Mum caught him at it and made some comment like ‘ you shouldn’t do that’ – I’d have killed him with my bare hands.

Do you really want me to answer that? 😉

(May I chat one moment) I am HORRIBLY naive. Was recently in a café which had a door opposite the entrance opening onto another street. When I went to pay I realised I’d been looking at a large mirror.

Because children that young generally relate to females, and given what happened to her, i.e. being raped when she was TWO, she might be a little scared of men.
