are you trying to imply that no F-35 has thrust vectoring technology?

….lazers of any meaningful power won’t happen for at least the next 50 years.

Really? 50 years? Are you serious? Earlier this year, the USS Dewey (DDG 105) had a Naval Laser Weapons system (LaWS) installed on board. It is powerful enough to disable an inbound missile.

The YAL-1A ABL has successfully brought down long range rockets with its outdated COIL DEW system. I think you are wrong.
The F-35 IS a 5th generation fighter. It possesses stealth capabilities, AESA radar and thrust vectoring and can utilize a wide range of modern weapon systems. It is not the best multi-role 5th gen fighter out there, but it is indeed a 5th generation fighter and certainly could out perform a MiG-19. Your comments are very bold.

I am sure they could out of a P-3…

We were in both AC-130Hs and C-130H1s (only did it one time in the slick C-130..all others were in the gunship)

Out of the AC-130 we would hand drop them either out of the ramp and door or through the breach of the 105MM, but after 69-6576 went down, we stopped doing them out of the breach of the 105 and only out the ramp and door…

The flares can be set to go off at a certain altitude… so they can be dropped from much higher than when they light off.

through the breach of the 105???? Im assuming a flare went right into one of the props on 69-6576?

We used them for reasons other than ground ops, I never deployed a flare for someone on the ground.

what type of aircraft would dispense these? P-3s or C-130s?? I can’t see an aircraft present in the video?

    I’m telling you…trust me 😉

The heat of the flare makes the decent extremely slow and sometimes they will rise, they are also at the mercy of the wind gusts.

    Trust me.

IIRC Mk24 are incendiary illumination flares to light up the area for ground ops? If thats correct, why would they be deployed in a day light or evening type scenario such as the vid?

Those are MK24 (or similar) parachute flares… We used them a lot

They do look a bit odd but that is exactly what that is.

    dude, I disagree?

parachute flares that hover and then start moving at an accelerated rate to the right in unison one after anoter??

Im gonna go out on a limb and say Ball Lightning, or swamp gas, or whatever you call it. Theres still alot of natural phenomena that we dont understand. Well, I’m no expert (and since you asked for an expert), but thats definitely one of the better UFO vids I’ve seen.

I disagree with ball lighting or swamp gas. Ball lighting is super fast and doesn’t move at slow speeds, hover or follow other balls of lightning in a pattern, especially on a beautiful night like that. Swamp gas occurs in swamps, not mountains. Id be more inclined to believe its a column of trucks winding down a mountainous hill side.

you guys keep referring back to “ABM” or the Anti-Ballistic Missile. Which is only a missile program iirc? Wasn’t it just the a safeguard which used the LIM-49A and sprint missiles? I know there are also the Aegis system and the Patriots as well, but I was more interested in the NEW developments that will compliment these systems like the Airborne Laser program, which will be basically a fleet of laser equipped E-4s (YAL-1A) to destroy ICBMs at there launch phase. There is also the ground-based laser program which I imagine would create GBL stations all over the U.S. and friendly nations along with the new space defense systems on the board (Darkstar), doesn’t that add a large boost to the anti-ICBM net that will be in place?

What are you talking about? They’re saying the F-15K will replace South Korean F-4s. The units mentioned are all ROKAF.

ohhh my bad, i thought you were referring to a U.S. squadron in south korea…. nevermind
