It’s nice, but the bird on the tail reminds a bit of the image on the US Postal Service planes.

While respecting everyone’s opinion and their reasons for one stance or another, and not wanting to make this a discussion on culture, but in defending Canadians, to say that Canada “celebrate(s) the gun culture” is not only wrong, it’s completely misinformed, as is assuming that the cultures of Canada and the United States are one, and not without their own identifiable attributes. Perhaps you have lived in Canada and have gathered this opinion, I’m not sure. But Canada does not “do” the gun “thing” either, much as recent legislation in our country would indicate.

Again, not trying to be argumentative, but felt I had to write that down.

RE: Air Marshalls on U.K Flights

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-12-02 AT 06:14 PM (GMT)]I believe that this is a positive step.

Yes, these individuals will have weapons, however, they are also police officers, they know more than one way to disarm someone who may be intending to cause harm. Yes, passangers are able to over power their assailants, but the terrorists are trained killers, who I am sure will know how to overpower the average passenger. I’m thinking that the police will know what to look for. I believe that if I was a pilot I would feel better knowing the was an extra measure of defence on board.

All flights into Washington’s Regan airport require a marshall or you can’t land there.

I don’t believe that El Al’s use of air marshalls has much to do with bombings within Isreal, a bus will always be easier to get aboard than the logistics of an airplane. Though, police, as far as I understand, do attempt to seek out and stop suicide bombers.

Canada will likely be adding more marshalls in the new year on certain routes.

I prefer the new livery. The old one was starting to look a bit dated, however, it would have lasted a few more years. The look is very smooth.

Persoanlly I am getting a little bit tired of Disney managing to put their corporate logo in so many places. Enough already!

That’s a great shot of Qantas and the A330. Thanks.

It’s amazing how close the rear of the aircraft comes to the runway. I think that Finnair has one of the best color schemes to reflect it’s country and surroundings.

RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on

I would love to fly one of the Asian carriers wide body aircraft to experience the service. Although I love the A330, I’ve never actually flown on one. Oh, and I’d like to fly on an MD-11.

    a/c flown B707/737/747/757/767/777, DC 8/10,MD80, A319/320/321/340, Dash 8, BAE 146, L-1011

While I’m listing aircraft I thought I’d list airlines as well. AC,LH,BA,BD,EI,QF,CO,CP,PA (Pan Am hope that’s right), World Ways, Ryan Air, Alaska, Horizon

    Have a good day,

    RE: more speculation about GLA/EDI

If it was possible to create Glasgow or Edinburgh as mini-hubs for connections onto Europe I am sure it would be a way of boosting tourism in the region, for example it would be cheaper than carriers securing slots in London. Passangers could travel in Scotland for a few days (between the two cities) and then move on. I would assume that his is highly unlikely as most people want to see London as well. But if Glasgow or Edinburgh could be turned into the departure point perhaps more carriers could be brought to Scotland.

    RE: AZ:Milan or Rome?

Wasn’t Malpensa opened to much fan fare but never really lived up to expectation because of its distance from the city, unlike Linate which I believe is more closely situated, though I could be wrong. Milan was one of the reasons that KLM pulled out of code share, wasn’t it?

    RE: Delta Launching Budget Carrier

Hopefully the no-frills will catch on with travellers (at least leisure), reducing some of the major conjestion that is gripping the hub airports in the United States.

The idea should work. It is catching on here, though slowly, with Tango, Jazz and Zip for Air Canada. By offering some of the frills of the parent carrier such as frequent flyer points, it can be an attractive alternative to the smaller no frills operations (such as Westjet and jetsgo in Canada).

    RE: Aer Lingus

I have flown Aer Lingus to Dublin from both LHR and MAN, and found both times the service to be very friendly. You’re right, for a quick flight from Manchester to Dublin you really don’t have time to eat anything, in fact, it’s just an disturbance in your viewing time.

Been to Ireland many times, very lovely people.

Great pictures, the Swiss and the Air Tahiti are both fantastic.
