Super pictures, ๐ wish my first ones came out that good, best help I ever had was someone told me to leave some space in front of the aircraft for it to fly into or taxi into if that makes sense on your pics, makes it look better to the eye, helps give it a sense of movement…….. you have done it on most of them naturally, but the last hunter with the space behind it and none in front would look better composition wise with the space in front and not behind if that makes sense.
Sorry they are so big ๐

Thank you all for your kind comments, ๐ฎ
First ever attempt at Air to Air and was taken from a Cessna 172 through the little gap at the bottom of the Door window when opened on the Pilots side, from the back seat…. And using my worst lens, which has scratch on the front element and feels like a coffe grinder as it zooms, I kid you not!,
Not having tried this before I did not know what size lens to use so took the lot, turns out about 105mm was about the best length.
Would you like to see some more?

Tony, you are a magician!
What we need is the complete assembly – without taking it all apart this is my view on the problem:
On cycling the undercarriage, the stbd leg would not retract. It appeared out of line, as in not within its normal axis – the brake caliper was about to hit the nacelle… On further examination, the whole of the fescalised portion moved laterally within the upper casing, which screams to me that the seals are shot, but without knowing the internal structure I can’t be sure. On lowering the aircraft off jacks, the stbd leg decided to dump all of its oil on the floor through the seal around the fescalised portion.
If you have the parts catalogue and even the maintenenace manual, is there any chance of a copy?…..
PM Me an address and I will put you an expired DVD in the post with the Complete Piper range on it, It expired April this year.
You have me in a good mood and before anyone else asks, its a one off ๐
Where there is a will, there is a way. Now under your A/C serial number the whole leg assembly is a 31903-00
parts drawing from the current manual, Leg assembly is part No 20

Is that what you are after? or a specific part such as the upper castings?
Negative in both respects. No reference in the paperwork… oh for the want of a parts catalogue….
The only marks on the legs themselves seem to be manufacturers casting marks – Electrol Inc G9491 1F-D on the upper, Electrol Inc G-9492 F-A on the lower…
They are for an Aztec A model, 250hp . N73LW / G-EEVA. Currently on FAA register, but about to move to the UK reg.
That’s what I needed the model, so its a PA28-250 and the serial number which is 27-134 I have all the current parts catalogues on my pc and can search the part for you then run it through partsbase to see who has any, what part are you after? the complete leg or just the upper castings.
Thats good news. I look forward to seeing her at RIAT then in a couple of weeks, a show I’d rather more see her fly at than that of Waddingtons…….
Keep up the good work guys once again;)
Read his words
From the VTST Excuses Dept:
Quote:
Robert Pleming, VTST Chief Executive: โOn behalf of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, I would like to apologise unreservedly for the huge disappointment felt by very many people, some of whom had traveled great distances, at the absence of the Vulcan from the flying display. The events leading to the cancellation of the Vulcanโs displays are deeply regrettable, and we will do everything we can to prevent this happening again at Waddington.โ
All he is promising to do is to attempt to make sure it does not happen again at Waddington, to Pleming it would appear all other venues are fair game!……..
Pleming, the Chief Engineer, the Engineering mismanager and the rest of the Management should do the correct thing for the sake of 558 and RESIGN
They still allowed people to travel to the show and waste their money knowing full well that the Permit hadexpired, end of the day they are in charge and had the opportunity to put it right via the media, funding for work carried out by Marshalls ( who hold the Design Authority) is paid by the VTTG and it was up to them to ensure the Aircraft was both available and ready for the display season, the one reason they are employed by the public donations to carry this job out……. THEY FAILED TO DO this and as such should go and a proper management be put in place that can and will have the competance manage the aircraft and its commitments..
“The level of detail required by CAA and the need for endorsement by BAE Systems meant that this could not be provided without significant additional work.”
Does not explain why this was not done, It is not as if they did not know about this in advance and had not made sure the work was completed on time, another Engineering failing on behalf of the Chief Engineer and Directors.
4 days to stand up and say sorry, and then tell us nothing new but to re-endorse their incompetance to do the job.
RESIGN!
DeltaPapa Tony T I take you have seen the VTST Oganisanational Control Manual then & whom it defines will be responsible for what?
No I do not, and it would appear almost as if neither do they, it is the management and Chief Engineer in a company that are responsible for the airworthiness of any aircraft.
Blatently these people at the VOC have neither the competance to do this by the fiasco that occurred at Waddington and as such should stand down.
I need a part number or serial number,
If it is a 31903-02 Dobson lists them as well

Would it not be better to wait untill the full facts regarding permitgate are known before we go calling for sackings? Calling for Taff to resign or be sacked is a little harsh given that the ultimate responsibility for such things falls on those above him.
There has been all sorts of speculation from experts and self proclaimed experts and whilst some of us may know more about the issue than others non of us know the full facts.
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the Aircraft and its permit, and Pleming for the overall mismanagement full stop.. To have not had the permit renewed so that the said Aircraft could fly has to stop with them, no one else, that is what they are employed to do…… I feel sorry for the free volunteers that give so much time and have to put up with the grief from the families for something that is out of their control and in the hands of the 2 people mentioned…… and to not have forewarned people when they knew the permit would expire allowing people that support them to waste money travelling to a show where it would not fly is just arrogant.
I still say they should Resign and the management replaced with someone that is up to the job……
how can you possibly miss 2 of the most important shows on your yearly calender?!
I hear rumours there was a ruckus in the VTTG tent and fists were possibly thrown after one disgruntled family finding out they had paid over ยฃ100 to get in to specifically see the Vulcan fly found out it was not doing so.
1. I was still getting messages up until midnight on Friday
2. People have been working all weekend trying to resolve the problem and the aircrew attended all of the briefings on Saturday just in case we had the go ahead.
3. No, we had the aircraft ready to fly on Friday after repairing a minor hyd leak.
You see, thats all it needed. One person from the VTTS stands up and shouts out and it silences the big armchair no alls.
I
Live with it, YOU WERE WRONG!!!! The Vulcan is back and will continue to fly in the future. So what if it didn’t make it to Waddington. ~If your that much of an aviation enthusiast, why worry. You’ll get to see her at another show this year, if you can be bothered to get out your armchairs and drive to one that is………Well done to the Vulcan Trust.. Keep up the good hard work. Some of us actually admire what you’ve done;)
I am sorry but I totally disagree, you are the Chief Engineer and the responsibility to ensure all of the requirements of the Permit are completed and renewed in time, rests with you and the Mismanagement team..
You were well aware of the requirements laid down by the CAA of what was required for the permit to be reissued and you failed to ensure these were complied with, If you think the CAA are simply their to bend over backwards when you back them into a corner because the work specified in the given timeframe has not been completed and expect them to issue a permit, then you are nieve in the extreme.
Unless you were paying for the said work to be carried out under contract by BAe and not which I suspect, relying on their good intentions to ensure that work was carried out, then you and the Management team are soley responsible for the permit not being renewed in time to a satisfactory conclusion…….. You are like it or not responsible to the public that are paying your wages to ensure that these things are carried out and that the aircraft is displayed as promised during the airshow season…… To make a complete a** of it and then be heard on the local radio, media and on the web to be blaming everyone else for your missplanning and lack of foresight is both incredulus and arrogant in the extreme.
The aircraft both paid for by the public and supported by the public and without their support both financial and through the gates at airshows, you have nothing……. You need to remember that, you have totally lost both the confidence of the members of your own staff at the show as well as the public at large………. And they pay your wages, hopefully not for much longer!
Oh and Robmac I certify and renew C of A’s as a living, some 15 plus aircraft all told, and I do not have an armchair!
Nice, thanks for showing them ๐
TonyT.
Maybe I’m mistaken but I thought it was the Waddington Airshow this weekend that the Vulcan was appearing at, not the Vulcan airshow at Waddington? Whilst it may well be that the management of VTST are guilty of yet more mismanagement, who do you propose should offer the refund? It shouldn’t be Waddington because it is not their fault, all airshow acts are booked in good faith. Therefore you MUST be suggesting that refunds come from VTST which, if honoured, would ensure that no-one ever sees the Vulcan fly again. What is it you actually want? VTST to offer refunds who may or may not be to blame (I bow to your 35 years experience as a licensed engineer) or should it be Waddington who are definitely the innocent party here?
The issue here is not one of refunds, but whether or not the non appearance of the Vulcan is the fault of VTST or other parties who failed to carry out testing on 603.
Regards,
kev35
What are you going on about???? I have never mentioned the Show or the VTST offering refunds, simply that people that were planning to go but now because the Vulcan is not showing would if they had more notice of been able to get refunds on train, coach, and hotel bookings….
