That looks like one of the eggs out of Godzilla so be carefull :p
2 ways I can see you getting it down, get an aircraft jack that will take the weight, even if it’s not tall enough, build another sleeper pile, jack or airbag on top of second pile, raise nose a little, slide one layer off 1st pile fitted, lower nose on it, take off jack remove layer from new pile, jack back on, raise nose, remove next layer from original pile, lower nose etc…. and carry on till you are back on terra firma. Air bags would be good, friendly fire station training day??? worth a punt……..
The 727 that went up on its nose here a few years ago came back down gently by walking a few firemen up the cabin, the Refueling error that saw a VC10 on it’s butt was brought down to earth by transferring fuel fwd if memory serves me correctly, I would have thought C of G wise it would have came back down gently, but as said if in doubt, do what you have done…
They just took two jags from Cosford and put them on the bl**dy ranges 😡

There were 10 flogged to an Americann company that were planned to be going to warmer climes were there not, they were after Ex Jag engineers and a sim a while ago..
I think you will find that the DC3 is no longer on the EASA list and has been moved back onto the CAA Annex II one, as it has moved from my EASA licences and back onto my CAA Licences……………
In this months Flypast or Aeoplane there was an article saying its staying put, additionally they are erecting a fence to fence it off from the main airport so as to allow people access to what was previously Airside to be able to view the Aircraft, Coventry is actually open for freight and light stuff now and there is a consortium form Switzerland interested in it to develop both it and part of the field…… there is also one expressing an interest in turning it into a quarry!…..see PPrune for the thread on the airports future. Bet those that moaned at the idea of a terminal nearby which made Thompson pull out and the rot set in will be horrified at a quarry next door……….. serves them bloody right!
Shame though that Thompson had indeed been flying in and out under a trial to see if it generated any complaints which it didn’t, it was only when they mentioned the Terminal and regular flights ( which the trials I believe simulated) that they got some complaints……. Surely moving it over more to passenger flights would have reduced the amount of traffic from older generation freighters that were using the place already.
Well the Aiport are adding a new viewing mound at the top end and there are plans I hear for them to possibly get a Nimrod that would slot between the existing and the new mound, so it seems to be positive……

more on makes on the right
As they are putting an out of service date as the end of March it would be just prior to that one would assume, If the Aircraft is due a major maintenance check, it will be withdrawn prior to that check and delivered earlier.. that’s the norm…..

Normally it will get well publicised and will no doubt do a couple of final circuits etc before it lands for it’s last time….
I after seeing the pie chart as to the cashflow through staff wages etc, especially considering Marshalls do the engineering? so one assumes the Marshalls section of the pie chart included their staff wages. I decided I would never donate again to the cash cow as long as DR Phleming was in charge, with that and the fiasco of running out of check.
I also believe the Aircrew are Paid! to fly it and not a insignificant amount either, last year rumours had a figure that was been bandied about that the Chief Pilot was on nearly or over £100,000, if that is indeed true it is a gross amount considering a lot of Historical Aircraft are flown by unpaid volunteers, especially as the engineers and helpers are on the whole working for free or very little, if this is indeed correct that one wage is a lot of rattling of tins for a charitable venture to collect before you even look at putting it in the air…….
Seems to be top heavy with staff wages at the cost of what it should be about……… I cannot think of any other, bar the BBMF and Navy Historic Flight where the crews are paid….
I welcome a response from those in the know or from the Trust, Is this true about the wages? If the rumours prove unfounded then I will gladly remove this post, though that is what I heard at one of the shows I visited. Rumours are rumours, but there is often no smoke without fire……
