Hello all I’am after your help once again, the static ‘Bill Plant’ Spitfire that we had in place for our wedding can no longer come for reasons out of there and our control:(
So if there is anyone out there who know of a static Spitfire that would be availible for hire at our wedding in May next year near Huntingdon Cambs please get intouch……..i’am quickly running out of time and at this rate will end up with the nose of Canberra WH887 at the wedding
all the best Matt
any Canberras not fussy which one they were all gracefull:cool:
Why was the Spitfire stripped down to the last bolt?
whats the betting he has the nose too:dev2:
most of it is T4 though:rolleyes:
Following RAF Upwood’s 1940’s event i had the great pleasure in meeting a chap called Vince Bateman, we got talking about the 2 Canberras and he then stopped me in my tracks and said “i have a nose cone in my garden” my jaw dropped to the floor and i got all excited and thought i just wonder if it could be the right one for 775?
Any way we were very lucky as Vince kindly donated the nose cone to our Canberra cause ………… we went and picked it up that week and found it was a T4 nose cone and in very good condition , he said that he had bought it from a farm auction a few years ago.
Now WJ775 in her VERY early days had this nose on, but as she has the long nose in her final days with 51 squadron we will keep hunting on for the correct nose for that peroid.
If any one knows where there is a needle or blunt nose cone and they want to swap for a T4 nose cone please get intouch.
The T4 nose is now under cover all oilled up and will go on displays when ever we take the Canberras out.
All the best Matt;)
Happy birthday:)
Thats great news David……she is safe at last , is there any pics of the move?
all the best Matt
His blog spot for the Twinpin is’nt working either?
Yes a thoroughly enjoyable event. It was obvious from the progress made that you have all put in many many hours of work in cold and difficult conditions. The QRA sheds and excellent state of the aircraft are a real tribute to your efforts and it was good to see the level of support by the public on the night.
I realise it wasn’t truly part of your event, but afterwards it was nice to see your neighbours with the Buccaneer taking it out too for an engine at night run. I’ll put up shots here of that as others have illustrated the Lightning so well.
There is something atmospheric about witnessing night running of aircraft and we’re looking forward to putting on a good show at our (Air Atlantique) Classic Flight Night Engine Run on at Coventry 13 Dec, which will also include jet action (excuse the “plug”). 😉
Tim
Can you say which aircraft will be involved……..maybe the Canberras????:o
Great stuff guys well done to all involved, i could’nt make the run but fingers crossed i will be there next time to get my Linghtning fix:p
Whats the story with the doors? are we talking about the main doors…..did they have to come off again?
All the best Matt;)

It is nice ……..it cost £250 last year:eek: worth every penny though. I live on the old married quarters at RAF Upwood so i just had to have it (although now saving up to get it framed)
It would be great if Flypast did that …. make a nice channge;)
All the best Matt
