You’re not wrong, I got confused earlier working out how much debt i’m in including my overdraft! 😀
Get used to it for the next umpteen years!:D
Nice to see the Avro Bi-triplane featured here too! 😉 😀
Wouldn’t Snoopy be the lowest time C-130 out there?
The pedant in me says no, as there must be some very very low timed J models…;) 🙂
Amy Johnson Way, Bleriot Way, Audax Road, Seafire Close, Auster Road and Stirling Road – all on the industrial/trading estate that was once Clifton Moor Airfield near York. These names, with the possible exception of Amy Johnson, seem a tad gratuitous to me… perhaps the planner bought a copy of Flypast, a blind fold and a pin…?!
Certainly Seafires were based there at some point, and the Stirling may be a token hint at the fields past as a heavy (Halifax) repair base. As it was also scene to pre and post war flying I’m sure some more of the names at least are from the airfields past. Not sure about James Nicolson’s connection though, although George Cayley was relatively local)…
Not so much Rolls-Royce as Dr. Stanley Hooker.
Rolls-Royce employed him, not knowing what he could do – and neither did he. It was extremely fortunate that all his previous pure research equipped him to become probably the world’s leading expert on supercharging.
I was looking to see if Sir Stanley’s name appeared. His book “Not Much of an Engineer” details his time at RR, and the turnaround of the Merlin. Also interesting to read is how much the engines improved once a major car manufacturer (Ford I think) started manufacturing them in the UK – they were expecting quality issues with them IIRC, only to find they were better than RR’s own…:)
Well spotted H.C. I couldn’t find it!

Eyes like an ‘awk!;) 😀
Hi all,
Courtesy Aircrafts website has a new listing of a Spitfire IX for sale with no more details. Anyone know which one it is?
The only clue is that they say it is restored which suggest maybe a recent restoration.
Courtesy Aircraft’s front page says MK959 under new arrivals.:)
(Linton with all Tucanos going to Valley;
Can’t see that happening. They are physically too busy to be compatible, and two of the UKs busiest airfields.
They mentioned a training base. If they are correct I’d say Wyton or Fenton, or perhaps, using the term more loosely, one of the satellite stations (Topcliffe, Scampton etc).
It’s not like any effort’s gone in either, can’t see any walkways or anything that have been erected for people to view it more easily…:p  🙂
On a serious note thought, it would be nice to see it under cover in situ, but I doubt that would be very practical…
Yes, me too.
I ordered it delivered to my chum Lofty as a birthday present – looks like it’ll be just in time for Christmas.
Moggy
At least that’s miles better than not being released at all…:)
I see they are now Simply Home Entertainment:
http://www.simplyhe.co.uk/By conducting a quick search on their new site I received 0 results for ‘Over Here’.
I hope you receive your DVD Moggy, or a refund if not. Shame, I really wanted this for myself!
Mmm, I noticed that. I wonder if they’ve simply taken up production of DDHE’s old stock, not new titles…
Does it say in “your orders” the name of the DVD production company – I only ask it’s the sort of title DD would have released, and if it was them you may of course have pre-ordered before they went into administration.
I think Fluffy’s post from a few weeks back might give a hint!

I to look forward to your updates Jacko, having enjoyed reading those about the Lanc.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Excellent, thanks Paul.:)
You meant ‘sanded’?
Just wondering if it’s a green grey scheme, or whether it was a brown North African style one:
The new scheme will depict a 601 Squadron aircraft based in the Italian theatre in 1943.
🙂
Probably should have been destroyed at the end of ts useful life, but hey-ho…:)
If they went with NCOs in the cockpits, they would save some money, which could then be funelled back into more aircraft or whatever.
Mmm, there’s a reason or two for those at the pointy end being commisioned, and an aircrew NCO doesn’t earn that much less than a Fg Off/Flt Lt. In fact a MACR may well earn more than his other crew…
You actually think people want to fly in the RAF for the money?
Oh yes. For some it’s the only route into professional flying. It pays the bills…:)
